It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Uhm...no. Scissors are always a part of a trainer's gear...they need to be able to remove tape quickly in case of injury. For example, a guy has his ankle taped and he injures it, the trainer whips them out and just cuts the tape off asap.

The umpire provided a fair explanation to Girardi.

Rule applies to ability to catch the ball, not ability to throw it. Had Betances hit the runner, he would've been called out.

I can't see this being overturned. The right call on the field.

Kershaw does this slightly as well. Not as exaggerated as Price but it's there.

I know there has been a lot of talk already about the "neighborhood" play going away...it was interesting, because the Commish is on SNY talking in the booth with the Mets announcers and he said that before they implemented the rule, the literally watched EVERY single double play chance from last year and determined that only 7 double plays were "neighborhood" plays and wouldn't count this year.

If that is true, I commend baseball for at least looking at it before just making changes...and I can't even imagine how long it had to take examining EVERY single double play opportunity from last year.

I googled it when I got home out of curiosity. Price pitches from the stretch all the time with no alterations regardless of if a runners on base or not:

Verlander had a no-hitter going until Dee Gordon broke it up with a triple and then Giancarlo Stanton destroyed a baseball for a 3 run HR.

Jays have struck out 36 times in three games so far.

The way that video is edited cuts it out, but up through last year he had a very subtle rocker step in his windup. He actually stepped slightly forward, so it was hard to see in a broadcast

Not sure what you mean, the video I posted was 2014 and even with no runners on he was starting in the stretch.

I may have missed what you were pointing out on twitter though.

I'm not going to embed the video because this only started because I asked why he was in the stretch with no one on base and it's pretty clear that's what he does at this point. Here is highlights of him from today:

I know, whomever edited the video cut out his rocker step in the highlights.

The message from twitter has him saying he uses the windup, so he doesn't throw out of the stretch with no one on.

The very first pitch from this video (highlights from last season) shows his subtle rocker step and windup.

LOL. Heaney into the dugout to get his bloody nose stopped and HP Ump Angel Hernandez is watching the trainer work on it.
