He was pitching bad, threw a couple pitches inside and Machado has to jaw at him? He drops his glove and hat as Machado is jogging towards the mound. He's not supposed to get ready to try to defend himself? Sure Ventura isn't a saint ever but it's not like it was a one man brawl. Let's not forget Machado has a short fuse history too.

I mean, he threw them inside because he's a headcase, was pitching bad, and venting his frustration. He was throwing everything out over the plate prior to that; he wasn't really missing the strike zone a whole lot. I'm sure if Manny didn't say anything, Ventura would've kept doing it and it eventually would have led to some sort of brouhaha. Ideally I'd prefer Manny had not done anything, but I can't imagine I'd be thinking logically while in pain after getting hit with a 99 MPH pitch and knowing the guy did it intentionally.

Does MLB actually look at repeat offenders differently? Or will they hand out the usual suspension? Ventura obviously hasn't learned anything from his previous suspensions. It should kind of be like getting popped multiple time for roids. The next time you're suspended for similar actions you face double what your last one was.

Maybe these brawls can become more regular in baseball. It brings some excitement into it. I'm all for it.

What? lol. Manny caught him with a punch, Ventura fell down, and Manny lost his balance at Ventura's surprisingly weak chin. Then they went ground-and-pound while getting swarmed by teammates. Manny didn't get hit let alone drop like a sack of potatoes. I don't think it was a beating either, but Manny would've destroyed Yordano had that continued any further.
