He plays Machado and Donaldson's position though. I wouldn't call them a joke. I realize they weren't on the Final Vote but they in his way as far as making the AS team w/o needing the final vote

I will say one thing, I find it hilarious that a Cubs "fan" is calling out the relevancy of another team and their fans.

Cardinals are just 7 games back of the Cubs. On June 19th, we were 12 1/2 games back.

              Keep charging boys.

Funny thing is I was right last season. Astros dropped like a brick 2nd half.

It'd be amazing if we get a choke job like '69.

                    You were right?

You were wrong when you said they were in last place in the AL West in 2014. Wrong when you said they'd miss the playoffs in 2015. Wrong when you said you'd be the first to admit you were wrong if they made the playoffs in 2015. Wrong when you said Keuchel wouldn't win the Cy Young. Wrong when you said their bad start in 2016 was predictable and so on. There are many more examples that I don't care to list.

But ok, you were right. Right about as often as a broken clock.

Well they have let us and the Pirates back in. We have enough games with them over the 2nd half of the season that we can make a serious run at the them. Key will be winning the first series of the 2nd half.

I just want us to get it to 5 games before the end of July.

No. It would not be amazing. It would be infuriating.

It depends on which team emerges from the break--the April/May version or the June/July version. If the early season mojo comes back, nobody has a chance to catch them. If the recent team is the real version, then the Cubs will finish in 3rd place and miss the playoffs--a choke job that would be impressive even for the Chicago Cubs.

Funny thing is 7 games is a big, big margin still. It doesn't feel big with the recent struggles, but most teams would kill for that kind of separation at any point in the season.

Yes it is. But we play each other 10 times in the 2nd half of the season, so we have the opportunity to make things very interesting provided we take care of business against other teams.

You guys are only 4 games over .500, but have a +89 differential and a losing record at home. 3rd best run differential in baseball, but 7 games under .500 at home is by far the worst record of .500 or better teams. Odd mix right there.

Those 10 games could also help the Cubs put St. Louis to bed. We'll see. It will be fun to watch (unless we play like we have been).

Its been an odd year for the Cardinals. But despite the injuries and the streakiness, we are in position, albeit difficult, to win the division. I didn't think there was any way that we would be within single digits of the Cubs at the All-Star Break with how the first half of the season was going, but yet here we are.

Going to be a fun and exciting 2nd half of the season.
