Why couldn't he have hit like this when he had his sip of coffee with the Jays?!

I really think it will between those two teams again. Not that the Blue Jays are pushovers. But looking at both Boston and NYY's farm system, and the projected future. They are both gonna be really tough.

You seem to forget that the Blue Jays are being run by a front office that has been known to build from within. Shapiro may have the title of President but it's pretty clear that he has his hands all over this organization. The farm system is going to be built up sooner rather than later.

They're not all gonna pan out of course, but you know damn well some will, and there's the option to trade some of them for ml ready talent, if need be.

Contracts are coming off the books left and right. It's not exactly rocket science to see the Yankees future as incredibly bright.

I'm not saying their gonna turn in a dynasty, but they are on the fast track for sure, same with Boston.

Wow, Giancarlo Stanton's gone for the rest of the season. A good sized blow to the Marlins playoff hopes.

I'm not forgetting that the Jays have a fine farm system in the works, and Two young stud pitchers.

But I have questions, If EE doesn't come back that's a serious blow right? Bautista is getting old, I don't see the Jays on as fast of a track as the Sox and Yankees, that's just how I see it.

Man...disappointed in MLB.com. Front page shows Aaron Judge's catch in right field today along side Paul O'Neill's in the 1996 WS and asked "which one was better?" Are we serious? One came in the 9th inning of a key WS game to win it 1-0...the other comes in like the 2nd inning of an August game between two non-playoff teams.

Such a bummer. This is just bad for baseball. He's so much fun to watch. Would've loved seeing him down the stretch.

Welp, that's it for the Marlins.

Stanton may wind up being one of those guys who is destined for greatness but for one reason or another he keeps getting hurt.

Makes no sense that Leblanc and Wieland are wasting perfectly good oxygen in Seattle, yet Walker is wasting away in Tacoma. Especially since they sent him down to "Give the team a better chance to win, while Walker works on some things." We don't have our 5 best available starters in the rotation.

This means a whole fat lot of nothing. Is Mark Shaprio supposed to be some all-time great GM or something? Otherwise, I don't understand the relevance of bringing him up here.

The Twins built from within- where's that got them? How about the Reds? Fans love to parrot stuff like this but it's just a lame platitude in my opinion. It doesn't mean squat unless you actually win the World Series, which is why St. Louis gets credit for building from within and others don't.

I got nothing against the Jays but they aren't exactly the model organization in the sport if you look at their last 20 years of work instead of the last 2 or 3.

So, assuming Stanton's done, and the Marlins are also done by extension, then does that mean the Cardinals are the 2nd wild card favorite now?

Shapiro has at least had a track record with the Indians and he left the organization with a pretty good farm system. I'm not saying he's a genius or anything but I do think that a mix of building up the farm and spending some money will see the Jays doing pretty well for the most part.

I also think it's a bit of a low blow to point to the last 20 years as some dark age. The Jays have at least been steady. In fact for the past 20 years could say their theme song should be "Stuck In The Middle With You" as they were never actively horrible but they weren't great either. The Jays have developed some decent players over the years though most had their best years outside of the organization.

Time will tell what happens but the Jays have the flexibility to build from within and spend judiciously.

That's a yes in my opinion. I don't really like the Mets chances. It's probaly going to be either the Pirates or Cardinals if the Marlins fall off now without Stanton. I would say Cardinals over Pirates.

I'd say so. Don't see the Rockies making a run at it. The Mets are too hurt.
