Man, what I would give to see the Bengals and Reds have Bandwagon fans......

Anyway, the only two reasons I root for the Sox are:

      1) My brother has lived in Boston the last 3 years and is a fie-hard sox fan

      and

      2) As a supporter of a small-market team, I hate the Yankees and how they can just buy everything because they are in a big city.
      Clemson Tigers
      Cincinnati Bengals
      Cincinnati Reds
      Cincinnati Bearcats

I agree... But there probably are those who are claiming "Red Sox for life" and all that crap, when they just started watching the series this week. I for one, love exposing bandwagoners... All it takes is to ask them some questions about the team... When they can't answer, you've exposed their lack of "fanhood", for lack of a better term.

I wouldn't even call them fans.. just hooligans. My first and foremost loyalty is with the O's. But as a baseball fan (and Yankee *****), it's great to see the Yanks fall and the Sox finally pull one out against them.

Re: What do you think of bandwagon fans?

                      first off,

It looks like there's just a lot of borrowing going on, period. For instance, when did red sox fans become the "nation?" Isn't that bandwagoning a sports term used by another team?

But more on topic, i don't care about people who bandwagon my team. I could care less. I can see it getting frustrating if you cannot get tickets for a game, but c'mon, with the actual fan base the r-sox have, do you really think it would be easier to get playoff tickets for their games if there were no bandwagoners? And that goes for any major sporting event, especially with all the corporate tickets sold.

There are also those who are irritated by people who bandwagon teams they hate. For instance, a yankee fan getting ticked at a bandwagon r-sox fan. That scenario is more understandable to me. Nothing can be worse than if you are a yankee fan and a guy who you KNOW is not a r-sox fan all of a sudden is rubbing the r-sox pennant in your face. The yankee fan is like, "you're not even a real r-sox fan and you sweatin' me? get out my face."

No bandwagon if they don't win? They is already a ton of bandwagoners out there just over the last few nights. I've heard names thrown out there like BRANDON Arroyo, CLEO Epstein, MATT Damon, Manny ORTEZ....yes, all from people that "claim" to like the Red Sox. There is nothing unique about this, its just another team that wins and gains bandwagoners, ala Florida Marlins of 2003. Where are those fans now? Right now, they're claiming RED SOX NATION right now.
