    Re: 9/6 - 9/18 Game Discussion Thread

I wasn't a fan in '87 when the Jays folded over to the Tigers so this may be my first taste of a Blue Jays fold job. This is just so disheartening to watch. I literally did a facepalm, turned off the TV and put on the radio broadcast after Melvin Upton Jr. dropped the ball. I knew it was going to get worse before it got better.

Rondon just had a really good 8th inning in Houston. He looks like himself again. Great sign for the Cubs that he's healthy and pitching with command+velocity again.

If I'm Julio Teheran I'd be very tempted to take a bat to the bullpen's lockers...guy has pitched his guts out this year and has nothing to show for it.

The Kraken is just unreal, picking off a guy at 2nd from his knees and hitting a bomb into Monument Park. This guy is a gift from the baseball gods.

My guy Josh Donaldson is hitless in 5 games, I love him but I love the slump too. Down with Toronto, Trout for MVP!

Jays held a players only meeting this morning. I'm not usually one to take much stock in those kinda things but if it helps them then i'll take it.

Unfortunately, I don't think Trout will win the MVP...it will go to Betts or Altuve because of team performance.

Speaking of Trout, it's funny that he won the MVP in his lowest WAR season. At the pace he's on for this year he'll blow through his WAR for his rookie year in 2012 and set a new career high.

I think Trout will win it I think team success should have zero factor in the discussion but i do think the voters *usually put team success as a tiebreaker. If Betts won i would have a huge problem with it good player but his stats aren't close to Trouts.

Agreed with you on the first part, but have you looked at Betts' numbers?

He has more homers, more RBI's, nearly as many runs for the "counting stats guys" and he's put up an 8+ WAR so far. I think Trout has had a better year, but Betts is not a bad choice for MVP.

RBIs are more a factor of chances so you expect that. Angels are 10th in the AL in runs scored so the fact Trout leads in runs scored is pretty jarring. the massive difference in OBP% plus when you factor in park affects that's all I was getting at. Betts is great but compared to trout it's just different.

Don't disagree on the RBI/run scored...I'm just saying that people who just look at counting stats (and there are voters who do so) aren't going to see a huge gap between the two players.
