I honestly have no idea how the Marlins are playing tonight. I wouldn't blame them for a single nanosecond if they called the season.

Classy move by the Marlins to retire Fernandez's number. In a lot of ways he's to the Latin and Cuban community in Miami what Clemente was for Puerto Rico.

Great tribute by the Marlins, great idea to all wear 16 with Fernandez's name on their jerseys, and a wonderful start with Dee's AB.

A home run has never made me cry but seeing Gordon's HR did the trick... the reception from the dugout when Gordon got there sealed it. My god, just so emotional.

                            Re: Jose Fernandez R.I.P

It's now Tuesday and I feel like i'm just now coming to terms with all this. Up until now I didn't think I could cry over the death of someone I have never met in my life, but this is what made Jose Fernandez so special.

As a Marlins fan for basically the last 15ish years I have seen a lot of players come and go. A lot were exciting to watch, but didn't have the personality to match or they were great guys but not as talented on the field. Jose had this rare blend of both, he'd strike you out then have the smile of a 5 year old seeing his Christmas gifts. I ****ing loved that about him, I have never in all my years of watching sports seen someone have as much fun playing the game as much as he did.

It seems like yesterday my college roommate and I were watching his MLB debut, thinking "woah this guy is pretty good it seems". Then hearing his personal story just struck a serious chord with me, this was a guy who risked everything to even just get a chance in the USA. Soon his starts became must see TV, even on Th-Saturday nights in college on nights when we were getting ready to go out we'd throw his starts on TV as we were drinking. It wasn't the strikeouts, the double play balls, getting out of a tough inning, his at bats, that kept up watching. No what I've now realized is what kept us watching was the joy and excitement he brought to the game, even ones he didn't start! (He was constantly shown on camera joking around or messing with someone like Bonds, Ichiro, etc).

I can't wait to hopefully one day show my future son who Jose Fernandez was and I can only hope he enjoys something in life as much as Jose did baseball/life. Until then I plan to honor his life by trying to enjoy life more for what is and not what it could/should be.

RIP Jose Fernandez forever my favorite Marlin player

Nice gesture on the part of the Blue Jays wearing No. 16 decals on their caps tonight.

Just saw the video of the Marlins gathering around the mound after the game last night. I've never seen anything like that in professional sports. You can see... no, FEEL, that Jose Fernandez was more than just a teammate.

                                Transcendent moment.
