The best 2 pitchers I faced from this area were from up north more. 1 was from Franklin. He threw 95-97. He was nasty, but came in after my HS had the lead so it didn't hurt us. The other kid was from Erie Cathedral Prep. He was in the mid 90's, but had nothing but a fastball so we ripped him pretty good.
Clement is probably one of the better pitchers to actually MAKE it in the bigs from this area. I mean, Leskanic is from around here, but he's been a journeyman utility pitcher, so to say he "made it" is in the eye of who's looking at him.

I played HS ball with a kid that could throw in the mid-high 90's.. but he gave up on college halfway through his first year and is now hanging drywall for a living..

I remember the 18-pitch at bat Alex Cora had against him and ending it with a shot over the fence...

      Ouch!

Yeah Clement is the only bigger named pitcher that I can recall making from this area in our time.

I lost track of all the guys I faced. Most of them made it to the minors and never made it out. Clement's the only one I know of to sustain a relatively productive major league career.
