Yes, I agree money does talk. But whether its with the Mets or Yankees he's still going to be making gobs of cash. And Pedro's far enough into his career that he doesn't necissarily need the HUGE contract, although I'm sure he'll get a pretty good chunk of change. Its just that I'd like to believe that there is a REAL rivalry between teams like the Red Sox and Yankees, and the Cardinals and Cubs. I like the idea that these teams actually don't like one another. Its like in high school ball, or college when there are rivalries you'd never want to play on "that" team. I felt it, as many other people do, I just hope there's a little bit of it left even when players are making $10,000,000 a season.

I don't think it would happen because I don't think Pedro would wan't to be a Yankee, but I'm sure George would jump on the oportunity.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Where's the loyalty?
Cashman has already said that the guys feel that he will kill the life in the clubhouse and no one in the front office wants him except for Georgie.
Tahst why Cashman is praying the Red Sox sign him.. because if they don't The Boss will pressure him to be the one to do it... and then will be mobbed by Yankee fans.

Re: Where's the loyalty?
Originally posted by Gagnon39All this talk about Pedro Marinez possibly being in Yankee pinstripes for opening day next season at Fenway Park makes me want to puke. I can't imagine how Red Sox fans would feel seeing this. The championship rings will be handed out, imagine if Pedro accepts his in a Yankee uniform, I just can't picture it. Being a Cub fan, we know that the only ex-White Sox ever truly accepted was Sammy Sosa, who's now pretty much hated in Chicago. The Cubs and the White Sox don't really talk much when it comes to dealing players and I don't imagine the Red Sox and Yankees do either.
I would just like to believe that coming off of the greatest season in Red Sox history Pedro Martinez would have enough dignity not to sign with the New York Yankees under any circumstances. Especially after all the nice things he had to say about the city of Boston and how his heart is always there. The fact is that he's going to make an all-star salary next year and deservingly so, but come on, just not in New York. Just thinking of Mark Prior or Kerry Wood wearing a Cardinals uniform makes my stomach turn. Where's have all the Biggio's, Gwynn's and Ripken's gone?Comment
