I thought the Twins were finally going to fade away after that 4-game sweep to Cleveland, but they've bounced right back and even swept them back. Hanging in there into July, which is incredible to me considering they basically have 2 good pitchers on the entire staff and the bullpen is the worst in the league.

I saw an article today that has the Twins as the #2 team (behind the Rays) poised to become the next Astros/Cubs. They have a loaded farm system and have now spent over 50 days in first place...

On another note, I'll ask you this question as I don't see the Twins as much. Why is it that the Twins perpetually have pitchers who can't strike people out? I was watching the game last night via the NESN feed and they were showing how the Twins bullpen is last in the MLB in K/9 and swings and misses. I feel like going back to Carlos Silva/Brad Radke (Santana/Liriano obviously were K pitchers) that the Twins always have pitch to contact type of guys. Is this an organizational philosophy?

K pitchers cost more on the market so that explains why Minnesota hasn't signed many. Not sure why they can't develop 'em. It could be an organizational philosophy, something their player development program is bad at, or just a massive coincidence. Gun to my head, I'd have to guess mainly the first option with a smattering of the 2nd and 3rd ones. Berrios looks like he could be a strikeout guy though.

Basically you get what you pay for. And yeah, Pitch to Contact(TM) was always a big hit in the organization. Not really sure if it is anymore. They've finally had a lot of turnover in the organization.

Absolutely despicable by the Braves organization to waddle that fat ****ing tub of **** Bartolo Colon out there last night, in the middle of a hot streak, throwing a game against a beatable opponent when you're trying to (finally) make something out of the season.

And he got blown up like the blimp that he is. And now he's cut. Good ****ing riddance.

I'm still surprised the Braves even tried this experiment especially at the cost

Willy guns down Michael Taylor trying to steal 2nd with a perfect throw. Taylor basically had a walking lead off of Jon Lester. I wonder if Miguel Montero is taking notes?

Dusty tossed after a pretty bad missed foul tip call by all of the umpires. I heard the tip from the game microphone and it was pretty easy to see live. Not sure how all of the umpires missed it, or if the HP ump didn't ask for help, why not.

And Carl Edwards Jr. promptly gives up the lead.

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. For Jeimer Candelario. Hit his 1st MLB HR the previous at bat and gets drilled with 99 MPH right in the knee cap his next time up. Good to see him stay in that game, but that knee is gonna swell up big time.

LOL @ Nats bullpen...if Mike Rizzo isn't on the phone every day working for relief help he's a fool.
