Love the moves by the Yankees and the Diamondbacks. Neither team giving up despite some tough sledding. Really wish the Braves could have acquired JD. Doubt the team would have been able to re-sign him though.

Really hoping the Mariners take a long look at Gerrit Cole. Really think he could be a good 2/3 in our rotation

Pirates aren't going to trade away Cole. They are in the middle of it for the NLC.

He's currently a 'maybe' according to Heyman.

Re: 2017 MLB Trade Deadline Thread

I don't like the trade but coming into this year I didn't think we had a shot so I wasn't in favor of going all in to begin with. Trading Rutherford isn't terrible, we have a few outfield prospects, Judge is Judge, Frazier is up now, we've got Ellsbury signed until the end of time and still need to open up that spot for Bryce. I'm not too hurt, but trading Rutherford for a few months of Frazier in a year I don't think we've got a shot to win, Houdini for this and next, and another reliever probably wouldn't have been my first choice.

Thinking more, we kinda just got 3 quality major leaguers for a guy we had nowhere to put for the foreseeable future so I should say I like the trade but don't love it.

Also, random Blake Rutherford anecdote: grew up in Southern California a lifelong Yankees fan, committed to UCLA, slipped in the draft because teams thought he would go to college, drafted by his dream team, gave up college to sign with them... And traded. Loyalty shmoyalty.

Slide Betances to the 7th, Robertson to the 8th. Dellin can control the fastball but can't control the breaking ball. Hopefully lower leverage situations help him by taking the pressure a little bit?

Rutherford, Ian Clarkin, Clippard, and Tito Polo was the 4th man to be traded.

Big fan of the deal. I also think the Yankees aren't finished either.

Kahnle is the best player the Yankees got in that trade, by far. Dude is a beast. Their BP is scary good now.

My thing was, I was hoping Rutherford could be the center piece for Sonny Gray and Yonder Alonso. Apparently Cashman tried that to pursue Quintana. But the White Sox organization wanted Torres or Frazier. Can't blame them.

I'm sure the price is that high for Gray too. Still the Yankees bullpen should be unreal now. And Frazier is an upgrade.

This also signals the Yankees are buyers, and a starter is being pursued heavily by Cashman.

I feel like all the starters are either mediocre or have exorbitant price tags that would cost us too much. I think if we go after a starter, the package has to be built around Mateo right?
