O's are open for business... Listening on Britton, Brach, O'Day and Seth Smith.

    Not listening on Manny.

I wonder if Dan Altivilla and DJ Pederson would be enough for Brad Hand?

I can see a 2018 July headline now, A's trade Blake Treinen to Nats for prospects.

As for these prospects, I was hoping for one closer to to the MLB, instead we get a couple single A guys that could take 3 or 4 years.

SS wrote a good article today about it in the SF Trib (if you haven't read it already Mab definitely read it, some interesting stuff), the A's already received multiple calls about Treinen since acquiring him.

What I didn't know is that the A's originally traded him to the Nats for Jaso.

Thanks for that link. I didn't remember Trienen being in the system either till I read Lockard's tweet this morning about her being glad he was back.

They had Stiglich in the booth during the game and he was also speaking on the drastic change in philosophy from constant retool to a definite rebuild. Beane wasn't beating around the bush for once, very straight forward, thestadium plans are the real deal finally and they want a good young team when it opens.

Just makes me think this current youth movement making strides is reaching mlb too early to even be around when the stadium is done.

Industry source thinks Cubs will trade for Britton. “If you have a chance to add Britton to your club, you do it. Theo has the minor-lgrs."

So apparently the Cubs had checked in on Stroman but the Jays declined the offer. The view from here is that it'd take a "blow your socks off" kinda offer for the Jays to move him.

Cardinals have backed off their interest in J.D. Martinez.

The Nationals are still looking for more bullpen help even after acquiring Madson and Doolittle.

Kinda makes sense since they gave up Treinen in the process.

Why not? Hand isn't a closer, and Altivilla has upside and throws 100. And Pederson is having a decent year in AAA and is our 9th rated prospect, which isn't saying much, but yeah. Who else do we trade? Lewis and O'Neill wouldn't even be considered by JD. Possibly Moore, Vogelbach, or Neidert? Our prospects after the top 2 suck, other than Vieira and the guys who are 4+ years away. Unless you count Evan White, and Sam Carlson, and their not eligible to be dealt yet, and no reason to trade them until you know what you have anyway.

We don't need a lefty reliever, and from what I've seen, San Diego had a vmhigh asking price for Hand. Altavilla, despite his upside, has struggled a lot in the majors this year and Peterson has fallen off and is currently blocked by Valencia and Vogelbach. They both don't have the greatest value at the moment. I could see SD asking for Vogelbach/Moore or Vogelbach/Neidert which is too much. Basically, it's not a good fit

Report: Royals trying to acquire Lance Lynn

Yankees and A's are talking Yonder Alonso

Padres are asking for "crazy" returns for Brad Hand. Asked the Dodgers for Alex Verdugo and asked the Yankees for Gleyber Torres in separate deals.
