You'd be surprised what the WAR on a bag of baseballs is in today's market....

Business can be cold, but I hope that the fact that the news of the big trade at the deadline was broke by Rosenthal isn't lost on the general public (not that he is homeless or anything).

Darvish is a high-risk rental, and frankly a luxury at that, but yeah, not a bad additional starter to have.

        Can't help but feel pleased.

If Kershaw comes back healthy. Dodgers have a absolutely ****ing filthy rotation. Best team in baseball just got much better.

Apparently Willie Calhoun is the headliner of the Darvsh trade. And 2 other prospects: A.J. Alexy and Brendon Davis.

Looking at what the Dodgers gave up, wow, what a great deal.

Texas must have panicked and decided to get what they could for him. Only explanation I can think of. Or they just underevaluated the Dodgers' system.

Well they would only receive a compensatory pick for him leaving as a FA, which is now a 2nd round pick. So they probably figured get what you can now and try to re-sign in the offseason like they would have anyway.

Dodgers and Yankees are the big winners so far. Feel like they really squeezed the teams with the major chips somehow.

True, but I have to question bypassing Zach Britton (or even Brad Hand) for Tony Watson. Hard to know how hurt Zach Britton is though.

Just think about a potential October matchup between LA and CHC:

You have the whole revenge angle, plus they're the top 2 teams in the NL (not buying WAS with that bullpen).

                            Pitching matchups to die for.

                            Kershaw/Darvish/Wood vs. Lester/Arrieta/Quintana

                            Yes please.

Cubs get zero credit for getting Avila, Wilson, and Quintana?

And then imagine one of those rotations going up against Houston's lineup in the World Series.
