It was almost like he was ticked off about the error he made and wanted to erase the baserunner resulting from it...I can't fathom any other reason to go for 1 out over a tailor-made 6-4-3 DP.

Ya...I mean, do I want 1st and 2nd with 1-out and Rizzo at the plate or a runner on 3rd with 2-outs and Rizzo at the plate? I'd take option B every time....

Cub bullpen doing everything they can to give this one away. Neither Strop nor Edwards have had any clue where the ball is going.

This one's getting ugly. 75% on the Cub bullpen and 25% on Contreras' pitch calls. Calling for way too many breaking balls in 3 ball counts. Bullpen guys falling behind every single batter.

Strop, Edwards, and Rondon have combined for 56 pitches and recorded 3 outs to go with 5 walks. Edwards and Rondon both leave after getting nobody out. lol

One of the ugliest innings I've seen all year...just brutal. It's amazing how receiver performance fluctuates from year to year. The bullpen was a strength last year for Chicago...no so much this year.

The bullpen has actually been decent for the Cubs this year. I agree not as good as last year, but it's just a really awful outing this time. The Cubs' pen has/had a collective 3.30 ERA with some ok peripherals in 2017, although the Achilles Heel is always going to be the BB for this group (6th worst BB rate in MLB).

...and as I say that St. Louis bats around with nobody out yet...
