Yeah he was never considered a Top Prospect. He was drafted I believe in the 15th or 16th round in 2006. But he worked his way through the ranks and has really come on strong this year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Also a Las Vegas kid. I grew up with his sister. He was a top player in Vegas in HS. He was headed to Cal State Fullerton until the Cardinals came calling.

Is Hoskins someone expected to be good going forward though or is this just a Story-ish hot streak? I know he's a power guy and nothing lasts forever, but what are we talking here?

He's legit and has the minor league track record to back it up.

Yeah his peripherals seem to back that up, albeit in an extremely small sample size. 13 Ks to 10 BBs so far is a good sign that he has a good grasp of the zone and won't get himself out too much.

Well as a Braves fan that sucks to hear, but good to know that he might have the substance to back up the hot start and that it's not quite fleeting.

Royals didn't score a single run this weekend against the Indians.

Both. He raked in the minors and the projection systems already thought he was the Phillies' best hitter when promoted, but he's not going to keep hitting like Babe Ruth.

Of course not, but he is definitely going to be close to a 40 homer guy. He is definitely making the Phillies fun to watch right now.

Let's pump the breaks on Hopkins just yet. Yes, he has the minor league pedigree and he's obviously exploded on the scene, but he reminds me of another guy who had minor league pedigree: Shane Spencer.

Spencer was coming off minor league seasons where he hit 30 and 32 homers before he exploded on the scene like Hopkins. He never did live up to that power potential in the bigs. I'm not saying Hopkins will be a bust...I'm just saying he's no sure thing.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
