    9/11 - 9/24 Game Discussion Thread

Indians at 18 in a row and Giancarlo at 54.

And time keeps on tickin'. Another winter staring us in the face.

Cards have 6 games left against the Cubs and 3 left with the Brewers.

We can still win this thing!

The Indians went on this streak AFTER Kipnis got hurt. The Dodgers were lights out when AGon was injured too.

It's interesting how injuries to all-star level players can change a team's dynamics by such extreme measures.

Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.

One of my favorite writers (Joe Posnaski) discussing the Indians streak...interesting stuff. Reading it, however, made me think of the Dodgers. I mean...what are the chances that a team that played .716 baseball over 127 games could lose 15 of 16 at any point in the season? It would be one thing if they had suffered injuries, but this happens at a point when Kershaw has come back and they are relatively healthy.

In a way, I think this Dodger streak is more improbably than the Indians winning 18 straight.

The 2000 Yankees went 3-15 in their final 18 games with 6 losses by 10 or more runs. Of course, they went on to win it all. Other than that, I'm struggling to find antecedents of a contender playing this miserable for this long. And while the '00 Yankees were part of an established dynasty, they weren't nearly as good as the Dodgers were prior to this collapse.

So, yeah, this is basically unprecedented. Streaks are fickle and all, but you don't lose 15 of 16 while getting blown out in most of those games for no reason. Something is very wrong with this team.

CC really has been something this year eating a nice chunk of innings at the back of the rotation. I thought he was done after the alcohol thing but this has been a decent farewell season in his walk year.

The Indians may not lose the rest of the regular season.

Good work, Pittsburgh. Doing the Cubs' dirty work. Apparently runs can be scored on Milwaukee; take heed.

An emphatic 11-0 win tonight puts them at 19 straight. One more and they equal Oakland's 20-game streak from about 15 years ago.

Hopefully they have a better postseason outcome than that Athletics team.

Arenado had an MVP-style night. 3-run HR and amazing defense as usual.

Dodgers/Giants about to start in a couple minutes. Yes, at 10:50pm Pacific. I hope it'll end up on MLB Network or something or that my Extra Innings will let me watch it because it's "after hours" or whatever and maybe the rights don't apply?

Yeah, they reeeeally didn't want to reschedule that game, evidently. I'm rooting for it to go extras.

This game has been insane. Giants went up 4-0, Dodgers came back, took the lead, now it's been a seesaw affair. 7-6 Giants at the moment.

The Dodgers have been a dumpster fire for nearly a month and they're still 40 games over .500. LOL
