There's no better way to win against a batter as a pitcher than to hit him, then pick him off 1st. Pham will forever hate Felix Pena

Looks like clinching will have to wait until tomorrow at least....Cincy couldn't quite come through against Milwaukee and the Cubs are not playing a good game tonight (meh pitching/defense/hitting).

Cubs have made this interesting. Brebbia apparently doesn't think the Cubs lineup can hit BP fastballs.

LOL. Joe Maddon pulls Justin Wilson in a 2-0 count after walking his first batter. hahahahaha, what a sad sack. Why even put him in Joe?

18 BBs in 15.2 IP as a Cub. What a waste of a uniform.

Ugh, Cubs take it to the wire, but ultimately come up short. Unfortunate when the offense scores 7 runs in a potential clincher and it's not enough. I think back to bases loaded nobody out and not scoring a single run. One thing about clinching is you never want it to linger. Got to get this tomorrow.

I saw that tidbit about McCutcheon last night and was frankly shocked that he had never hit a grand slam before.

Anywho, I know it doesn't matter a hell of beans but I loved seeing Sale get rocked last night. I also realize it's September but man, Teoscar Hernandez is impressing the hell out of me. I really hope this kid gets a chance to stick with the Jays on opening day of next season.

Can the Red Sox please crap the division away and lose the WC game? I think it's the only way the team can get better.

I don't know about you, but if my team has already clinched a playoff spot, I'd much rather them try to win the whole damn thing than just give up.

I just need the manager canned. And them blowing this division lead down the stretch is the way I have a chance of that happening.

I get it, it's well documented that you hate Farrell as the manager. So no, you don't NEED him canned, you want him canned.

But it's incredibly foolish and selfish to want your favorite team to lose in the postseason just so he "might" get fired. And besides, the guy you want so badly isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

As much as you don't like him, he's thisclose to having his third 1st place finish in 5 years, which is 2 more division titles than Francona had.

If he isn't going anywhere anytime soon how come there hasn't been a single word said by any reporter about talks of a contract extension for him? His contract is up after next season and if the team is so infatuated with him as a manager why put off discussions and make him a "lame duck" going into the offseason where the team has squandered down the stretch, they were something like 15-6 one of the best records in the league, and now they are like 1-5 in their last 6 games.

I remember at one point the Dodgers being like 43-7 in their last 50 and then later having a stretch of 1-16, with a 5 game losing streak and an 11 game losing streak (besides the fact that Boston is 7-3 in their last 10).

We've got a really good team, but it's also on the players that they've dropped games recently. It isn't because Farrell is an awful manager.

You said it yourself, he's got one year left. If they don't extend him, fine. If they do, fine. Let's not act like Bobby Valentine wasn't here for a year, I'd take a year of Farrell over a year of Valentine.

If we don't win it all this year, who knows what could happen next year.
