He's going to end up with the Nationals or some unexpected team. San Diego has had some talks with Boras about Arrieta.

Moose is taking a big pay cut considering the season he just had. Glad to see he got a deal from someone.

At least the Royals won't suck quite as badly now. They'll still suck, but just not as much.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's having another huge season and the Royals are so bad he gets dealt at the deadline.

Wonder if Arrieta goes the same route?

Dan O'Dowd on MLB-N said it's more likely that position players go the one year deal route rather than pitchers as they can more easily have a real bad season and then their value is even MORE shot come next offseason. At least with position guys they could potentially go back to the teams they last played for and sign a deal like Moose's.

I wonder at what point Arrieta realized, if he has, that it probably won't be happening for him.

Boras there, sitting by the phone, waiting for pitchers to go down. And so far only the Rays oblige.

I'm guessing the Union won't have to make too many calls when they want a player to represent the way the QO compensation can dampen value, sheesh.

The way he "performed" in Toronto i'm surprised he caught on anywhere.

With it being a one year deal, I'm completely good with it. The young rotation should benefit with a vet behind the plate. Even if he repeats 2017 he's probably still better than the other options.
