How the **** did this happen? He just randomly says "I would accept a trade to the Yankees" like 2 days ago and it's "virtually" done?

    Double Agent Jeter in play?

IF this does happen who is going? I really doubt Ellsbury would be involved, Gardner would have to be moved which I would not be thrilled with. Sounds like Castro is a piece and I would not mind seeing Headley move along.

Stanton and Judge in the same lineup?

Jon Heyman reported the Yankees and Marlins have a deal in place.

          Joel Sherman
          @Joelsherman1

I reported #Yankees are sending at least Castro to #Marlins among veterans and prospects, but not their top ones

Copy and pasted Sherman’s recent Twitter Post, their it is.

Random but I think it's awesome how the writers shout each other out on twitter. "First reported by..." whatever, to give credit to the other guy. Everyone is saying Jon Heyman was the first, and he comes out and says Joel Sherman was on it a few hours before. Passan gives credit to the SF writer who saw it before them. It's just cool to see the credit being given and not taken. It'd be easy to not say anything.

How does this affect their chances at going after Machado or Harper next offseason in FA?

It's really hard to say until the official details come out. Harper, I'd assume we would be out. We have Judge and would have Stanton locked up on big money for a long time. Machado I think we would still be in on, pending details. I've seen we could be giving up Castro plus some other veterans plus some mid level prospects. He's our second baseman, and I think we're training our top prospect at 2nd/SS/3rd, so we could slot Gleyber in at 2nd for the future and that would still leave 3rd open for Machado.

Michael Kay (a Yankees radio guy) was saying if we traded Castro, Gardner, and Ellsbury to the Marlins, we would still cut payroll and they would save 200+ mil in the future because 1 of those deals is expiring, Starlin's ends next year, and Ellsbury still doesn't last nearly as long as Stanton. If I was a Marlins fan and that was the deal, I think I would find a new team. But if that happens on our side... All hail Cashgod.

99% sure I saw it was reported 7-8 hours ago that as of then Ellsbury wasn’t approached about anything. He’d have to waive his NTC to join a rebuilding Marlins team. Would he really do that? Obviously that’s a large timeframe so it easily could have changed by now but it’s worth noting.

I would think so. He's going to get his money either way and won't have any shot at starting regularly in what is already our crowded outfield. I don't know what the Marlins outfield situation is, seeing as they'd be taking on 2 outfielders in that scenario themselves.

I don't think it'll go down this way anyway. Getting rid of Ellsbury sounds too good to be true lol.

If we can drop Ellsbury and Castro and get Stanton. I'm all for this. But I'm wary of giving up certain prospects.

                      I'm gonna trust Cash though.

Welp...just as I was starting to have a soft spot for the Yankees they go and fire Girardi and now this. The Evil Empire reminds me who they really are...

                          Girardi wasn't fired.

LOL...decided not to bring back/fired. Tomato, tomato. Every headline said "Yankees fire Girardi".

Not how I expected the offseason to go for the Yanks and I am not excited for this deal if it goes through. Feels like more of a headline grab than filling an actual need.
