A little worried about that move. The Dodgers rode him hard in the playoffs and he's already super injury prone. He throws a lot of strikes though, so I'm torn. I'd like it better if they were penciling him in as the 8th inning guy than the closer. But $10-11MM/yr is a lot for a setup guy, so...

He's actually been healthy the last couple of years. Maybe it was the move to the bullpen that helped?

Maybe so, but I don't trust that to continue.

Looks like a 2+1 year deal.

So the Cubs have added Dario Alvarez, Tyler Chatwood and Brandon Morrow on MLB contracts so far this winter. Some info I saw about Chatwood on MLBTR for my fellow Cubs fans...

As I noted when sorting through some free-agent starters by individual skill set, Chatwood represents the hardest-throwing starter on the market and also boasts the best ground-ball rate and one of the lowest hard-contact rates in free agency. He also posted the 29th-highest spin rate on his four-seam fastball and the fifth-best spin rate on his curveball, per Statcast (min. 100 of each pitch type).
Now I'm hoping we go for Archer and not another back-of-the-rotation flyer like Alex Cobb. To complete a perfect offseason would be finding a new home for Jason Heyward even if that means sweetening with a prospect and a few million (or swapping with a "bad" contract for a RF that can actually hit) for someone to take him. And adding another RP like Addison Reed or Jake McGee, or re-signing Wade Davis, or trading for a bonafide closer.

Go ahead and cut him, Dombrowski. He's not worth anything.

From what I've heard St. Louis, Texas, Philadelphia, SF, and Oakland are all possible landing spots.

Now that the Yankees landed Stanton people are wondering what counter punch the Red Sox make. Any ideas?

I personally think J.D. Martinez ends up in Boston. Or they make some out of nowhere trade for a bat.

MLB radio mentioned this scenario and they don't believe JD wants to play 1B or DH, which is probably the only positions available to him in Boston.

I wonder if the Jays might have a shot at him with Bautista gone?
