Totally agree about the Cap.
I wanted one in the NHL and now I wish it didn't exist.
There is barely any player movement and top markets are handicapped from becoming dynasties.
I believe it's done more harm than good from an entertainment perspective.
The owners love it because franchise values have increased.
But it kind of sucks for fans who follow the league and not just one team.

Lol. To be fair, the Wings were still great for several years after the Cap was put in place.
Our issues lately have nothing to do with the Cap but rather poor management by our GM and our inability to draft a quality top 2 dman (or even a legit top-4 dman).
But I digress. 😉

I think Abreu would be a really nice fit though.

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
I'm confused.
Miami had an owner that constantly turned over the roster to make money as he wanted to make profits versus win.
Miami gets a new owner that is...turning over the roster to shed payroll?
How is this group any different/better? Is it just me here?Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

The 2nd time around isn't always the greatest. Just ask Hanley Ramirez. I also think with Cespedes' wildly inconsistent bat that he'd get eaten alive when he's in a real slump.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
The thinking is that the Jeter group wants to tear everything down and build from the ground up, lock up young players and keep the ball rolling that way. Think of it like the Royals or a club in a slightly bigger market that tries to maintain continuity through the minor leagues and hopes they can keep at least a couple of their homegrown stars for a 2nd contract.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
1) Stanton wasn't drawing flies in the expensive new park.
2) Stanton wasn't winning them a World Series, much less granting them a playoff berth.
I'm sure they are saying the same for the other expensive players on the payroll. They might as well dump them if they can.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Really I don't think they should trade Ozuna unless they get some good prospects in return.
But they do have to get some pitching one way or another unfortunately.
I'll wait and see what happens before I proclaim Jeets to be the next Loria though.
