Sounds like they want J.D. so stay tuned.

            Indians sign Lisalverto Bonilla

J.T. Realmuto has asked the Marlins for a trade. If they do trade him you have to think Dan Straily, and Christian Yelich would follow shortly. Man they are going to be so bad this year, may have to use them in MLB 18.

Heh, there goes that "We don't want Moreland next year" meme. They sign the guy for TWO more years?!

                  This is fine.gif

Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich is unhappy with the Marlins' moves this offseason, and he wants the front office to explain the plan, sources told ESPN.

Jeter might have had the worst first few months in the history of the baseball front office. He and Michael Hill both seem totally out of their depth.

Nah. That's bench player money for the Red Sox. That contract, imo, has no bearing on Hosmer.

So if you read into the article where ShowTyme got that info from...

"That won't be a first baseman. But we feel we have a DH -- that between Hanley [Ramirez] and if I could find someone else - (and) outfield spots that would give us plenty of at-bats and opportunities for someone to contribute in a full-time fashion."
...it appears that it does take them out of the running, per Dave Dombrowski.

LOL that the ESPN dot com "author" misspelled Eric Hosmer's name in that article's headline. Who names their kid "Eris" ?

I didn't even read that article. I just figured if they brought Moreland back they would be moving on from Hosmer (everyone is reporting that since then). Makes no sense for them to have a 3 man rotation between DH and 1B with Hanley, Hosmer, and Moreland.

I actually think it does make sense if you consider Moreland more of a bench/UTIL type, which I do. He gave them 0.9 WAR last year as a regular and his new contract at $6.5MM/yr is not at all starting 1B money. That's how I see him. He can play a little corner OF as well.

You and I consider him that, but Boston doesn't seem to agree. Idk man maybe they will still try for Hosmer and JD. Dave Dombrowski has been known to do crazy things, but the way their team is constructed right now you think Moreland is at 1B and Hanley is at DH.

Apparently the Red Sox plan to use Hanley at DH most of the year so he can get his 497 PA's to allow his option to vest next season.
