It goes back to the point I was making a couple if weeks back. New owners come in and strip the payroll like what Loria would do.

If I'm a Marlins fan, I'd be ill too. I thought there'd be a change but they're gutting the team for what purely looks like money reasons rather than increasing the talent pool and making the team better.

Atlanta gutted their team too but built a great farm system...not seeing the same thing here with Miami - especially being it's new ownership.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Braves get Preston Tucker from the Astros for cash or a player to be named later.

Longo gets $2MM just for being traded. Must be nice. Haha.

Brewers Nearing Deal With Jhoulys Chacin

Wow we're really going for it this year!

All this CAP room, but making deals like this... Can't wait to be looking up at Cubs and Cardinals for another year.

I just started compiling a list of things I'd cry about before crying about Hal Steinbrenner refusing to sign pitchers. I'll update when I finish it.

When the fan told him he didn't have much time left, Jeter should've told him, "Much time left for what? It wasn't 100 years ago that you guys won a championship. Trust me, I was there."
All of this is easy for a Yankee fan to say.

If I was a fan of a BUSINESS that didn't give a **** about its customers and made it clear that it wasn't going to do anything in their interest to the point where it brings me to tears, I wouldn't be a fan of them anymore.

Aside from being a Yankees fan, I'm a Knicks fan. I know **** management. The day I cry over something James Dolan does with his sports team, a billionaire who doesn't care if I live or die, will be the day I've lost my sanity.

I'm trying to imagine Spike Lee telling James Dolan, "Do you know who I am?" Even that sounds arrogant to me, and everyone actually knows Spike Lee. I can't imagine some random lawyer who sits in the front row trying to plead with the CEO of a company. It's insane.

Will be interesting to see how it works out for them...it worked for Philly for about 4 years longer than people thought it would.
I think another comparison would be the early '80s Orioles teams. A lot of old guys with a couple youthful guys like Ripken and Eddie Murray. The Giants have a couple of youthful players but the nucleus is definitely on the older side. If it all shakes out the way San Fran wants they might be able to squeeze out one last championship but like the Phils and O's of that timeframe they'll be in the woods for an awful long time afterwards.

Regarding the Jeter thing, I think the fans would be more receptive to him if it wasn't such a blatant teardown. It's not like the Marlins as constructed were a piss poor team or even a middling team that would only be at the fringes of contention after adding some pitching depth and a couple positional players through the farm system. Jeter's "who would sign?" comment regarding getting pitchers is mind boggling. Is he admitting that ownership doesn't have any money to entice a good pitcher to come down to South Beach or is he admitting that the franchise is such a joke that no one in their right mind would entertain the idea of joining with them? Either way, Jeter basically trashed his team by saying that. Jeter's ownership has been one bad move after another. It's going to take a miracle for that franchise to bounce back the way things are going.

Great points and I agree with you.
Its sometimes way easier to say you are not going be a fan of a team anymore.
You said you are a Knicks fan but say they have horrible management?
Why are you still a fan then? Your 2nd paragraph kinda contradicts you 1st paragraph.

I do see what you are saying tho, for the most part.

The Knicks don't make me cry. I stick with them because I want to be there on the other end when they win...which unless a Marlins fan is 13, they've seen. If I really felt they were causing me some anguish in my life, I would stop watching them and focus on any of the million more important things in my life. I can't relate at all to these people. The argument I could see is you'd hate to see your city be represented like this... But **** I'd just like to see mine represented. Not a team in the state of Virginia.

At a certain point it becomes like the people who hate what the people they vote for do but keep voting for them. Not to mention, as a Knicks fan, I've seen this before lol. People don't really care about the Marlins or their fans, it's just a fun meme to pile on.

I guess they hope he becomes their new Adam Lind. I don't know what the deal is for, but odd that they just didn't bring back Lind instead.

Its apparently for 1 year at $4M with $500K in incentives.

It is exactly 1 year at $4 million plus $500,000 in incentives.

Which is almost exactly what the Lind deal would have been.
They declined his $5million option but had to pay him $500,000 when they declined it.
So when all is said and done they will basically pay $5million to have Adams instead of Lind.

I feel no pity for Marlins fans. I get that Loria probably pissed off whatever Marlins fans that exist with his firesales. But they never supported that team any way.

Hell Miami fans barely support anything. They are as fair weather as it gets. Just ask the Miami Heat.

You have two world series championships in a short period of time. You had an enjoyable product on the field. You had Giancarlo which is worth the price of admission right there. And you still can't show up?

I've said this before. Tampa Bay and Miami DO NOT deserve to have teams.

Cry me a ****ing river Marlins man.
