It would be SWEET if the Mariners can pick up Delgado. Finally, this could be the off season where the M's pick up some big names and make the team better.

Why would you trade your #2 starter for a player who's never been able to stay healthy?

If I were the Jays i'd try to keep Lilly around for the long term but if he becomes too expensive for us then it's not a huge deal because we have some young pitchers coming down the pipe. If the Jays are nowhere close to being in contention by the all star break then I would trade him for some youth.

Because you have to take into consideration the Jays work on a small budget and this is the last year of Lilly's contract. Plus by giving up a quality player like Lilly it makes it easier to move Hinske's contract.

And in the farm system, the team's biggest strength is starting pitching. There's no reason for the Jays to fork over big bucks to Lilly when we have Chacin, McGowan, Banks, Purcey, Jackson, and Rosario coming up through the system.

The Jays need a bat a lot more than they do a starting pitcher. I'm also taking into consideration the Jays are making a run at signing Clement.

But why would you trade him for a player who goes on the DL every season?

I understand what you're saying about the depth in the system and the contract issue, but I just don't get why you'd trade him for a guy like Austin Kearns.

Injuries to me are based mostly on luck. And because of his numerous injuries, Kearns is an under-valued guy. I'm willing to roll the dice on him because if he can stay healthy (I know it's a big if) I can picture him hitting 25 Hr's 85 RBI's.

I think the Jays should've gone after Jose Guillen. They would've gotten for next to nothing, he doesn't make too much, and he would've provided some pop to a team that could really use it.

Him and Vernon Wells is a pretty good 1-2 punch.

There could be a chance that the Blue Jays could sign Magglio Ordonez. Ordonez is not being regarded as a top tier free agent and some see him as being in the same situation that Juan Gonzalez was in last year. After some of the bigger names are off the market it could be one of the smaller market teams (Jays, Royals, Tigers) that stand the best chance of signing him. His injury's from last year are going to hurt him in any big money contract negotiations, so this could be something to watch for.
