...he just made an awful throw that let another runner move up into scoring position. No way he throws out the runner on 3rd...that ball has to go to 2nd. Ugh...

Out of position players, dumb pen management, Bourjos has a noodle arm. This is gonna be a long ****ing month waiting for Acuna to save us.

Why would we not pinch hit with a starting pitcher instead of the reliever who has never batted?

Regarding the Tigers play at the plate, I'm not disputing the call because after 100 replay images it did look like Nick C's shoulder flap was touched by the catcher... but I'm curious about rules regarding glove flaps, let's say a player is putting a tag on a runner and whiffs but he had a loose glove string that came in contact with a loose fabric portion of the runner, would the contact between the string and the fabric be considered an out? Are there rules about how long the glove strings can be?

I'm thinking of this on the backside of the OT discussion about cheating in baseball and it makes me wonder if gloves could have some sort of extra appendage that extends during a tag attempt that would count as an out if it makes any contact with any part of the runner

It all just set in. I sat here watching this for 4+ hours for the team to go down like that. A reliever batting in the bottom of the 11th. What a whacky game between two totally inept managers.

There actually is a rule about how long a glove string can be (I think it's 2 inches?), and glove strings are not considered "part of the glove" when making a tag, I believe.

I was wondering that too. Teheran would have been a better option.

It's so Oakland. Ruin a good thing with a low budget move to not get custom helmets to use sparingly through the year.

He is exactly who I was thinking of...not that he's a slugger, but I'd rather have a guy who's been up there before.

Ender - would have liked to see a better AB to end it there. Oh well...the dream of 162-0 is over thanks to Peter Bourjos.
