The Yankees' home opener is today (assuming it doesn't get cancelled due to weather) and I'll be able to watch it.

I'm in the same boat. I'll always prefer to see teams have to work for their offense in every sport rather than have the rules/equipment work to their advantage over the defense. Also, I do think the juiced balls are indirectly hurting pace of play. I wonder if some of the drastic pitching changes we're getting these days is because the offenses are so far ahead of the pitching so you need to get the best matchup available.

So about this silly Twins/Orioles beef. You shift, guy batting gets to bunt against the shift to beat it. End of story.

Yes, I'm kind of out of touch with some of the new eccentricities of baseball, but can someone please explain to me what the Twins are crying about here.

These unwritten rules need to stop.

Now guys aren't allowed to bunt against the shift? That's the stupidest thing I've heard.

I don't care if it's a six run lead or a one-hitter. The catcher was right. They had bases loaded and were a big hit away from making it a competitive game.

                  No one should be conceding.

Sounds like they got some sand in the ol'.....

So, yeah, they're beating Baltimore 7-0 and have the nerve to shift against Sisco (not related to Dru Hill). So he bunts to beat the shift and they act like he committed original sin. Cry me a river. Maybe don't shift him next time if the game is already over according to unwritten rules?

Likely they just didn't want Jose Berrios to throw more pitches than he had to, but this is a new landmark in ridiculous complaining after a baseball game.

I knew what had happened, I just was wondering what could possibly be their rationale for being upset. I thought it might be an April Fools joke or something because otherwise their reaction is nonsensical.

His claim for being upset is because in the previous inning they had a runner on first and the first baseman didn’t hold him on which in his eyes meant they conceded defeat.

(You can make an argument both ways about that)

But to him, since the Orioles conceded defeat in the field, they shouldn’t have done that when at bat.

Not agreeing at all, just sharing his rationale.

I think the Twins players should've taken the high road when asked about it. You destroyed them in the 2 games after losing a close opener. Starting pitchers threw 21 shutout innings. Take the series win and move it along.

The worst is some Twins fans saying "They should've beaned the next guy." What? No.

Who concedes in baseball? It's the one sport that you can score dozens of runs and not have a clock against you. It could be that 30-3 game that the Orioles would be losing to the Rangers, and I will not concede to anything should that occur.

Simple, don't shift and they won't bunt on you.

I am waiting for players to start padding their stats and bunt until they stop shifting. The shifting is getting ridiculous. I'd really like a rule in place that mandates three players on one side of the field at any time (not including pitcher and catcher), even if that means the shortstop/center fielder is just left of middle.

I see that in addition to managing the Phillies, Gabe Kapler has taken up ghost writing:

Gabe Kapler has fit in a lot in his 42 years on this earth. Coming into Opening Day, here is just but a small sampling of things he has done:• Played 12 years in the Major Leagues, winning a World Series ring with the 2004 Red Sox. • Considered one

"Rules" of "etiquette" are only getting worse in baseball. There's nothing traditional or in "the spirit of the game" about this type of BS. Hard to imagine that 30+ years ago baseball players were this sensitive.
