Stanton's swing is way off. Surprised no one on YES has really commented on it. He can't catch 89. He's trying to impress with monster shots instead of making contact and just going with what's being given to him.

I've never really watched him play outside of highlights (and those were always the home runs) but there's no way this swing has always been his swing.

Not sure what Marcus Thames is preaching because I'm seeing the same approach from a couple of other guys.

Here's the thing though...while he's had some really good years he's also had stretches where he's felt out awful. Having watched him a lot as a Braves fan, when he's bad...he's bad. In fact, I have seen the Braves, knowing he's a in a funk, go after him instead of other hitters in the Marlin lineup knowing he was an easy out.

Here's the thing though...while he's had some really good years he's also had stretches where he's felt out awful. Having watched him a lot as a Braves fan, when he's bad...he's bad. In fact, I have seen the Braves, knowing he's a in a funk, go after him instead of other hitters in the Marlin lineup knowing he was an easy out.

I also think playing in colder weather is affecting him. The good thing about being in Miami, depending on the early schedule he was hitting in pretty warm weather to start the year. Stanton's worst month(s) in his career are March/April IIRC.

The splitter is absolutely filthy. His mechanics are so fluid and the explosion of the ball coming out is super impressive.

The splitter is absolutely filthy. His mechanics are so fluid and the explosion of the ball coming out is super impressive.

The only concern with his mechanics are the same as Tanaka (and most Asian pitchers); the high elbow above the hand at foot strike. It's great for velocity and depth on pitches, but it puts so much stress on the elbow and shoulder that he's probably looking at a UCL injury in the next couple of seasons.

Horrible sequence there by Roark. Can't put 3 straight guys away, ends up walking the bases loaded and gives up a slam to A-Gon. All with 2 out
