Walker Buehler having a good first inning. Retiring SD in order. Really like this kid.

Padres broadcast team is interviewing Rob Manfred and they asked about expansion and the possibilities of teams in Montreal and Mexico. He flat out said the league is looking to expand to 32 teams.

It doesn't have to be Ian Happ that replaces him. I still like the idea of KB moving to RF full time at some point with Machado replacing him at 3B.

Problem with Heyward is his defense and speed are already regressing and his bat never really was. He's going to hit like a replacement level player, so the only thing sustaining his value is playing really good defense and some really good baserunning.

The real problem is the 5 years and $110M left on his contract.

Mookie is the Red Sox all-time leader in leadoff homers and is now the Sox all-time leader in homers from a leadoff hitter as he just hit his 70th, passing Dom DiMaggio.

Plus, he's better than Mike Trout.

                  Ah, yes. Of course.

EDIT: Another young Sox note, if Rafael Devers can get 3 more multi-HR game by season's end, he be the Sox all-time leader in multi-homer games before age 22. He's at 2, Ted Williams had 3, Tony Conigliaro is the leader at 4. Devers turns 22 on October 24th.

Jose Quintana with a Yu Darvish Special tonight. 88 pitches, 4 IP, tons of traffic on the bases throughout, and an early shower.

So far this season, Quintana has been Clayton Kershaw against the Brewers and a pumpkin against all other teams.

Judge walks with the bases loaded, 6-5 Yankees, 2 outs. Sir DiDi pops up the first pitch.

Uhh, this chronicling of "Popcorn Boy" in the Cubs-Cards game is getting a little creepy. I mean the first half-dozen times they cut over to him, it was cute or whatever. But, making montages of a 9-year-old boy eating popcorn and other exploits is overkill.

Chapman was a mess with his control.

Sanchez gets a lot of heat for missing baseballs behind the dish, but not sure what he's supposed to do when an erratic 101 mph comes at you.

Three terrible pitches by Chapman blew the save.

Yeah, you can’t blame Sanchez there. Chapman throwing like a wild man.

Yanks need to pull this out, they have gasoline warming up in the bullpen.
