I get what you're saying. I'd like to see an actual one with it though and the math that supports it.

No doubt it was a blast, especially down the line like that.

I don't know math but I do know that a ball doesn't travel in a perfect parabola. So the drawing doesn't help

I completely agree that it wasn't 524 feet, but until I see an actual measurement I am 100% convinced it was 500 feet. I don't care how many mathematical formulas you throw at it. If you do, cool. I'm a fan that would rather be in awe at the best baseball player in the world hitting a ball that far, than say "Now wait a minute, let's take a look at some quadratic functions".

Yeah. Not that it matters I don’t believe it to be 524. That said. It was far. [emoji16]

Blue jays and Indians due to play two today. So they decided to go into extras in game one

              With 18 runs combined.

They better hope their starters in G2 go deep.

Mookie Betts has hit 69 home runs as a leadoff hitter, tied with Dom DiMaggio for most in Red Sox history. Betts is playing in his 535th major league game tonight; DiMaggio played in 1,399 games in his career, all with the Red Sox.

Thanks for not only helping my point, but also repeating it. Gravity does in fact decelerate parabolically with respect to time, but despite what some may think horizontally there is also deceleration there as well (there is also air drag in play, which means it should be angling more downward than even my model has it). So me giving him a very nice parabolic model is only increasing his HR distance through the calculation, not decreasing it.

                        So the drawing doesn't help
The drawing is clearly not even close to scale, nor is it the parabolic model I used. It's just a fun little visual display.

Anyway, it's a day off for the Giants and the Barves already kicked *** again this morning while I was teaching, so I don't have much else to talk about really... except to think about who needs the wins much more for this SF-ATL weekend series (that answer is obvious, the Giants do... but I don't think a sweep will be in order for them, no freakin' way).

Don’t let this squabble about 25-50 feet distract you from the fact that Mookie Betts is better than Mike Trout.
