It was really funny seeing Giles punch himself in the face walking off the field, lol.

Great start for Soroka tonight. Totally my style of pitcher. Fast, efficient, ground balls, pinpoint precision, nasty movement. His Adams apple legitimately makes me very uncomfortable though.

Whatever, good win even though we tried our best to blow it again.

          Lots of good baseball tonight.

One of these days some team has to just teach their big shift hitters to bunt the other way...right?

Saw Jays-Twins at bat where for one at bat(I think it was Morales?), Twins had 4 guys in the OF, 2 guys between 1B-2B and one who was basically a shallow RF.

Bunt the ball to 3B side and you literally could walk to 1B and be safe(given that Morales was at bat, he basically would be walking)

Bad inning for John Curtiss in top of 10th.

2 runners on, he walks Luke Maile! Then throws wild pitch, runner from 3rd scores, it's 5-4. Mound visit, he lets up a hit, now 6-4. Next batter, 1st pitch...wild pitch, it's now 7-4. Twins change pitcher.

What was the score/inning? Sure, he gets on 1st base, but you're not paying Kendrys Morales to hit singles and clog the bases, I'm guessing.

There are situations where it's a good idea. But to me, more often than not I want those guys to swing away and try to put themselves in scoring position or better.

Actually it was Smoak. Apparently happened multiple times too. This was first instance.

Bunt it far enough down 3B, might be able to leg out a double. Yes, your job is to hit HRs, but if you have a shot at getting someone into scoring position simply by bunting against the shift, I'd work at it. If it makes the difference in even a single game being won, that could go a long way. Could be difference in playoff positioning, or even in a playoff series.

Disagree. Getting on base is all that matters, doesn’t matter how you got there. If every guy gets a single, you’ll still score a bunch of runs.

Shoot, I would sacrifice twenty at-bats during the course of a short run and keep doing it to tell them to stahp shifting. Keep doing it until they're like: "You know what? You're serious about this."

I'd even do it with two strikes. If it pans out that you get on base enough, they won't have a choice, other teams will catch wind, and you'll increase most offensive statistics of yours.

It is a much better long-term plan.

I will need to put my MLB.TV membership to good use this evening and go back and watch Soroka's MLB debut from last nights game. What amazes me is he is from Calgary, same city I live in and we are not a baseball town due to our short summers. Hockey reigns supreme in this neck of the woods. But here we have a 6'5" 225 lb 20 year old kid from the frozen tundra of Cowtown Canuckistan making it to the Show.

Do people think the current ALWC number is sustainable?

Yankees on pace for 1st WC spot with 106 wins
Mariners on pace for 2nd WC spot with 98 wins
Jays/Angels on pace to miss playoffs with 95 wins

To think, last year the Twins got a WC spot with 85 wins.

I think the M's will fade at one point and either or both the Jays and Angels falter as well. Realistically speaking it's more likely to be Toronto but then again the starting rotation hasn't been great so far this year (with the exception of Happ) so maybe they turn it around and the Jays can sustain what they're doing.

We are only one month into a six month season. There is so much more ball yet to be played and so many more injuries still to occur to throw a wrench into any and all teams. With that said there have been tons of surprises. Yes the Blue Jays are playing better than expected. I knew the Diamondbacks were good, but I didn't think they would be this good and have they built up enough of a lead to keep the Dodgers down. Long season of course. Also the Mets and Braves as well as the Phillies look like they are all poised to make sure the Nationals don't waltz into the playoffs unchallenged. Red Sox have played well, but the Yankees are good. Astros are the Astros and should be there in the end and I also expect the Cubs to emerge the best of the NL Central. But you never know.

Let's talk again at the beginning of June or July or August or September to see how the season irons itself out. One down, five more to come.
