    Ted Williams' age 27 season (1946): .342/.497/.634, 38 HR 123 RBI, 215 wRC+

    Joe DiMaggio's age 26 season (1941): .357/.440/.643, 30 HR 125 RBI, 181 wRC+

    Mickey Mantle's age 26 season (1958): .304/.443/.592, 42 HR 97 RBI, 187 wRC+

    Babe Ruth's age 26 season (1921): .378/.512/.846, 59 HR 171 RBI, 224 wRC+

    Willie Mays' age 26 season (1957): .333/.407/.626, 35 HR 97 RBI, 170 wRC+

    Hank Aaron's age 26 season (1960): .292/.352/.566, 40 HR 126 RBI, 150 wRC+

    Barry Bonds' age 26 season (1990): .301/.406/.565, 33 HR 114 RBI, 165 wRC+

    Ken Griffey Jr.'s age 26 season (1996): .303/.392/.628, 49 HR 140 RBI, 146 wRC+

    Mike Trout's age 26 season (2018 so far): .313/.461/.687, 17 HR 34 RBI, 208 wRC+

Maybe Mike Trout is not quite on 1921 Babe Ruth's level, but he definitely belongs among these names. That's just crazy.

What an awful start by Garrett Richards. Can't make it out of the 3rd.

Alavrez comes in and plunks Greg Bird. lol

Recognized in what way? He's pretty much the unanimous best player alive. He's won multiple MVP awards and finished 1st or 2nd every season but one. There was a question for a couple of seasons of Harper or Trout, but that's long gone. I'm not sure what other recognition he needs, unless you're talking about non-baseball fans. And if that's the case, a World Series will help, but playing for one of the brand name teams will help more.

I'm just ready for robots, period. If they want to call strikes, too, then that's fine.

****in' sniper got Acuña as he ran past first base!

            God I hope he's okay.

EDIT: Oh boy, looks like left knee-shin area. That's a bad tweak, but let's hope that's all that is.

Acuna probably gonna miss a little time. By that I mean probably a game.

Mitch Moreland, after not hitting a triple in 4 years, has 2 in as many days.

Jose Altuve has 9 hits in 9 consecutive ABs.

I'm still not convinced they won't find structural damage in Acuna's knee...that looked like torn MCL/ACL stuff right away. It was good to see him walking, but yikes...I was sick to my stomach watching that.

ACK! I just saw a still photo of the injury. I'd be SHOCKED if there's no structural damage. That looked rather gruesome. Hopefully it's a case of an injury looking worse than it is.

Well it wasn't a sweep but we take the series.

Next up is a big series in Milwaukee.

Angels are a really good team. Glad the Yankees took two out of three. Trout is just too good. He basically just took over yesterday. Scored about five runs himself. I wasn't even mad. Sometimes you get Trout'd.[emoji849]

Is this true? Was Williams not a household name when he played? I've always been under the assumption that Ted Williams was far more famous on a national level in the '40s and '50s than Mike Trout is now. But I honestly don't know. (I mean, my mom - not a sports fan - knew who Ted Williams was; she'd never have heard of Trout.)

Someone like Bonds strikes me as more of a modern Ted Williams comp (otherworldly stats, extremely prickly relationship with fans/media, little postseason success). Beloved by relatively few, but certainly known by all.

From what I can tell, Mike Trout has a bit of a "Canadian hockey star" personality: amiable enough, but either very private or kinda boring or both. Which is fine! Not everyone needs to be flashy, just like not everyone needs to be reserved. But considering Trout a.) plays on a relatively low-profile team, b.) has only made the playoffs once and consistently avoided the HRD and WBC, c.) is completely non-controversial (I don't mean "controversial" in a necessarily negative way; there's no "angle" to Trout, other than he's really f***ing good), d.) MLB does a poor job of marketing its stars, and e.) Trout apparently doesn't WANT to be marketed, the fact that his popularity among casual fans doesn't match his all-timer talent isn't all that surprising.

That's more a North American hockey personality. Arguably one of biggest personalities in hockey is Canadian.

Hockey needs more personality and freedom of emotion. Mlb problem I find is more about the fact that guys aren't doing alot. You tune in and see trout at bat, combined he might be at the plate a handful of minutes a game. And gets on base about a third of that time? In a 3 hour game, a few minutes at most is what you'll really get to see from a big star.

That's baseball. Can't change that, and guys in past have been big names under a similar game. Just up to mlb to market guys and teams better. Maybe have feature on their site where you can watch every moment involving a certain guy each game?

Indians score 5 in the bottom of the 9th to tie, and Greg Allen walks 'em off in the 14th against the Stros.
