I said I'd "take Beltran over Manny"... never said "Beltran was a better player than Manny".. there's a difference.. In MY mind, the offensive upgrade Manny is is not as great as the amount of a defensive upgrade Beltran is, then factor in Beltran runs bases better, and is younger.

Originally posted by camulosManny's offense more than makes up for an occasional error. His fielding isn't as bad as everyone thinks. He just makes some boneheaded plays that they like to show on sportscenter.

Re: Surpising stat about Carlos Beltran
Manny's baserunning has improved almost infinitly. I can't recall him ever being picked off in a Sox uniform and the only times he was ever caught stealing were failed hit and runs. I know on at least two occassions he's taken advantage of a pitcher not paying attention to him and he stole third.Comment

Re: Surpising stat about Carlos Beltran
Beltran is a pretty complete player, and certainly deserves mention as one of the game's best. But Boras' assertion that he is an "iconic" type of player is ridiculous. If he gets $15 million a year for 5 years, he should consider himself lucky. Sad thing is it sounds like he really wants to stay in Houston, but Boras will not let it happen.Comment
