Re: 7/30 - 8/12 Game Discussion Thread
The thing bout the Gardner HBP is that it was clearly unintentional. Porcello's not going to deliberately hit a guy on an 0-2 count. What Severino did was actually quite dangerous as he DELIBERATELY threw the ball in the head area of Betts. Cora had every reason to go nuts and honestly, if I were the umpire i'd have thrown Severino out rather than give both teams a warning but that's just me.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Pedro Strop is so under appreciated. This series has been way tighter than I hoped. Still best Record in the NL without their best SP, Best hitter, Best reliever... It's a testament to their depth.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 7/30 - 8/12 Game Discussion Thread
So, I'm looking at the Yankees' schedule and no wonder they're a bazillion games over .500. Boston is really the only tough team they've played/will play in quite some time...here is a long stretch of schedule after the All-Star break where they play exactly one good team (maybe 2 if you count TB). I realize the AL is an extreme haves/have-nots league this season, but even so this is definitely easy mode.
NYM, TB, KC, BAL, BOS, CWS, TEX, NYM, TB, TOR, MIA, BAL, CWS, DET
In September, their schedule will stiffen up a bit with OAK, SEA, TB, and BOS x2.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Yes...that is why our record is so good, an easy schedule.
In other news,
Spoiler
We’ll look at those one-by-one. First, we’ll look at 2018’s current crop of playoff teams. That list includes:
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Boston
New York
Cleveland
Houston
Seattle
Oakland
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia
Atlanta
Chicago
Milwaukee
Arizona
Colorado
Los Angeles
(That’s obviously a group of 13 teams, whereas only 10 teams will make the playoffs. But as has been mentioned, the races are too close at the moment to not consider some of those teams to be in the playoff fold.)
Here’s how every team in that group has performed against the rest of that group, listed from best to worst:
New York: 24-11 (.686)
Chicago: 22-18 (.550)
Houston: 24-20 (.545)
Arizona: 25-21 (.543)
Milwaukee: 21-19 (.525)
Los Angeles: 24-25 (.490)
Boston: 15-16 (.484)
Colorado: 23-25 (.479)
Philadelphia: 18-21 (.462)
Seattle: 18-22 (.450)
Cleveland: 15-20 (.429)
Oakland: 19-26 (.422)
Atlanta: 16-21 (.421)

Re: 7/30 - 8/12 Game Discussion Thread
I do worry about the punishment the bullpen has absorbed cumulatively. It's been a strength for most of the season, but Morrow's hurt, Duensing's hurt, Cishek is on pace for a career-high in appearances. Edwards has been hurt, Rosario seems worn out, Montgomery is in the rotation and nearing his innings maximum (130?), Butler got traded. The acquisitions of Chavez and Kintzler certainly help, but I want to see as little of Farrell/Bass/Hancock/Norwood/Mazzoni/Maples as possible down the stretch. And as little as possible of Justin Wilson in high leverage situations.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Yeah I get that, it was the part about understanding why we're so far above 500. Boston has 12 more wins against teams under 500 than us. Was just strange to read I guess.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Velocity was never his issue. He never had a finishing pitch and threw a fastball with virtually no movement. Now that he has a cutter with movement he will be a half way decent pitcher.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment
