    Managerial Moves

Heading into the offseason these teams are without a manager:

    LAA (Hired Brad Ausmus 10/21)
    TEX
    CIN (hired David Bell 10/21)
    TOR
    BAL
    MIN (hired Rocco Baldelli 10/25)

If i'm missing anyone let me know and i'll add it at the top.

    - Reds are interviewing Joe Girardi and Brad Ausmus for their managerial job.

    - As noted above Buck Showalter has been let go by the Orioles.

I wish the Orioles could get Girardi if Cincy doesnt. And isnt it time Freddy Gonzalez got back in the loop?

It appears that your friendly, neighborhood John Farrell is the favorite to land the Reds gig.

        - Giants farm director David Bell is a candidate to be the long term replacement for Bochy in San Fran however he's also a candidate for the Reds and Blue Jays openings.

        - Speaking of Blue Jays here are some names that are emerging:

        Eric Wedge
        John MacDonald
        Stubby Clapp
        Sandy Alomar Jr.

and a dark horse candidate in the form of MLB-N analyst Dave Valle.

I hope someone hires Girardi. I like Boone but Joe G deserves another shot.

I hope it's Clapp. Schneider maybe promoted to bench boss if Clapp wants.

Also, for all the talk about wanting a Spanish speaking coach, why does that matter? I know they want someone more relateable(and who could actually speak to some guys), but why does it have to be the main coach? Why not just the 1B or 3B coach?

The Rangers have interviewed their first three managerial candidates:
                - Assistant GM Jayce Tingler
                - Chicago Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde
                - Houston Astros bench coach Joe Espada (via phone)

Rangers tapped Mark DeRosa for an interview but he declined because he likes working for MLBN too much. Good for him. Do what you love.

I imagine the quality of work-life balance cannot be compared between the two gigs. Totally understand not wanting to take on the grind that is life as a MLB manager.

Braves gives Snitker a 2-year extension with an option for 2021. He deserves it, so I'm glad they rewarded him.

He probably also factored in the fact that the Rangers are going to be a work in progress for the next few years as well.

on the Blue Jays front, they've done all their phone interviews and have/are moving on to their 1 on 1 interviews. So far the list of names thought to have spoken to the Jays are the usual suspects though a couple names not heard before jumped out: ESPN's Eduardo Perez (UGH!) and Astros bench coach Joe Espada. (intriguing) The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if the new manager isn't hired just before or immediately after the WS.

I hope they don't hire a manager simply because he can speak spanish. I don't get why the spanish speaking manager can't be a base coach or something.

Really hope it's Clapp or Schneider. We probably will find out within next 2-3 weeks. Don't think Jays wanna enter FA without a manager.

Cubs have a new hitting coach. His name is Anthony Iapoce.

Sounds like Chili Davis didn't jive too well with some of his pupils.

Blue Jays are said to be down to 5 candidates:

                              - Rocco Baldelli (Rays MLB on field coordinator)
                              - David Bell (Giants farm director)
                              - Joe Espada (Astros bench coach)
                              - Brandon Hyde (Cubs bench coach)

No 5th name has been reported but it's believed to be Stubby Clapp. Clapp is expected to be on the Cardinals MLB coaching staff if he doesn't take a managerial job.
