I almost feel better about getting the irrational kiss of death like Milwaukee got last year. But, really, PECOTA is a trash projection system that is projecting worse seasons for just about every single Cubs player (wasn't thrilled paging thru my Baseball Prospectus that came in the mail last week). Even those that had the "down" season last year. Someone at BP really needs to get their **** together.

But, even though PECOTA is trash, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Cubs become more of a .500 team this year.
Yeah the division has improved and the cubs offseason has been trash but man oh man are people going overboard. Like I really don't see the scenarios where that becomes even possible. Like even if you're projecting the Cubs rotation to fall off a cliff I still don't see it because it basically did for the 1st half off last year and they were still on a 90+ win pace.

The clock doesn't start until the pitcher gets the ball. So the catcher holding a frame for a couple of seconds wouldn't make any difference.

Pete Alonso hit bomb of a HR in 1st AB for the Mets today. Man really hope this kid makes the opening day roster.

Say what you want about Trevor Bauer being immature (I have) or John Smoltz becoming a grumpy old man (I have), but watching them both talk pitching on the Indians' Spring Training field is absolutely fantastic, must-see TV.

So Vladdy Jr's first hit of the spring was an infield base hit RBI.

Not exactly what I envisioned his first hit of the spring to be LOL

Over/under 30 Sosa hops for Luke Voit this season? Hes a real wild card.

I saw David Bote took a pitch off the helmet. Is he ok?

Ever since that SI Article I've seen a ton of Trevor Bauer videos on social media and loved all of them. The Smoltz discussion was great, I saw a short vid with Bauer & Mike Clevinger warming up and dishing out somw of the nerdiest trash talk of all time ("what was your FIP last year bro?"), and I saw one from October where he talked about how Machado's got his number and a follow up how he's pumped that he signed with an NL team.

Still think he a total jagweed and would hate to be around him, but he's fairly entertaining from a distance

                      I think so

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Cubs infielder David Bote exited Sunday's game against the Giants in the second inning after being struck in the helmet by a pitch from left-hander Madison Bumgarner.

Hate how Jays only have 2 home broadcasts for all of ST. Not as enjoyable watching ST broadcast when you're just listening to other team broadcasters talking about their own team 99.9% of the time, as they should be because it's their broadcast.

Lol, Yankees broadcaster had to explain Paxton having a maple leaf tattoo because the maple leaf is on the Canadian flag, and then camera has to get a shot of the flag to prove it as the commentator confirmed it.

Speaking of ST, either a vendor loves his job or its 5pm in Florida already. Just randomly here a guy in the crowd going "BEER BEER BEER BEER BEER!"

                          Must be ST. Ugly baseball.

Pop fly to shallow LF.....he drops the ball! He picks it up, throws to 2B and batter gets gunned down trying to weakly stretch it out.

Not sure which part I love more... Tulo going deep in his first AB in like 2 years or the fact that it happened off of Stroman [emoji23].

A part of me smiled. I like Stroman but the guy needs some humility. That should shut him up.

Also, it looks like Tulo is in pre-Blue Jays form. (yes it's very early but still) I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of Tulo giving it to the Jays "sigh"
