See, here's where NL ball incorporates that tough decision as a manager (in the AZ-SD game).

You have Robbie Ray and Joey Lucchesi each throwing shutout ball, and in the bottom of the 5th inning the Padres have a runner on 1st with two outs and the #8 hitter coming up. By design, Ray throws around this hitter and walks him, and it creates a tough call for Andy Green to decide whether to pull Lucchesi and put in a pinch-hitter to collect a run or two, or let Lucchesi hit and press your luck (mind you, Lucchesi was only at 83 pitches and has yet to surrender a run in his first two outings.

He decides to pinch-hit Francisco Mejia. Mejia doubles, driving in a run, and keeps the inning going for Kinsler, who subsequently lines out and ends the inning. The score is now 1-0 Padres and Lucchesi is finished on the bump, so the Padres are hoping they did enough offensively to satisfy their needs as they only had one hit against Ray up until then.

The decision-making involved in that was not easy. Time will still tell as to whether it was the right decision or not, but that three-batter sequence is not something you would see go on in the American League, or hear about from the commentators.

This is NL ball, and I love it.

Tulo hurt, least surprising story of the season.

At least Yankees helped Jays out slightly by paying 500k of his deal.

Helped Jays free up an opening day roster spot before his inevitable injury, and that 500k basically pays for some minor league guy coming up.

Voit walks. Brett Gardner in to pinch run... Strikeout, strikeout, caught stealing. It hurts.

            Another loss. [emoji854]

Would be nicer to not have to worry about it and have a lineup with both Reyes and Renfroe or Mejia in when Hedges catches with the DH.

Daniel Hudson has pitched 4 games for Jays this year.

He has pitched 3.1IP and now allowed 5ER and 6H.

Get him out of here already.

He's the only guy on the pitching staff whose been egregiously bad. Otherwise, this Jays staff has been on point early on this year.

Agree to disagree. That's what I either call "depth," "flexibility," or "valuable trading pieces." Basically, "a good problem to have."

                        Hometown pressure.

Or if what I'm watching is any indication, ESPN's artificial edge-enhancement overlay probably messed him up.

It's been improved from within this offseason. I'm really liking how hard everyone is playing. Totally not a country club atmosphere anymore after how Joe Maddon has re-dedicated himself to his craft.

Miles Mikolas channeling his inner Mark Buehrle with a defensive gem. Nothing actually on Buehrle's level, but it was sweet and could have been a travesty if it went wrong.

And Descalso is on the Cubs, now? Who knew. Guy is becoming an NL journeyman (for those who don't know, he was on my Babe Ruth team when I was 13 years old, so I like to track his pro career).
