Yeah, I think it was too early for Cub fans to start falling off bridges and cliffs.

That offense is lethal and as far as the bullpen goes, it's just a small sample size of a week.

Remember, last year, Cubs beat up on the Brewers early in the season and later in the season the Brewers bounced back.

      It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I don't know who this heyward guy is but that was easily his best game ever as a cub. They are getting all this offensive production with Bryant just looks lost. that's a good sign.

I'm still mad at the bullpen. 7-2 lead bam dinger. 14-5 same thing dinger. It's hilarious. But the offense looks legit.

Isn't what's happening with the Cubs reminiscent of what happened at the end of Epstein's tenure with the Sox.

Talking mainly about the bloated contracts they seemingly couldn't get out of.

They got rid of most of them with that trade Crawford, Gonzalez, etc. trade to the Dodgers

Cubs are home this next week and we will see if the offense stays hot in the cooler weather. A good team is going to get runs off this bullpen and we will see if it’s fixable in the coming weeks.

Right, but that wasn't Epstein. That was after gorilla suit incident.

Yea but they can't fall too far back. Because the Brewers are a serious WS contender.

I guess if you look at the additions the Mariners made it kind of offsets the subtractions, offensively at least, with Encarnicion, Bruce, and Demingo Santana, the defense and bullpen is dreadful though without Diaz at the backend. I took Seager's defense for granted, he really is one of the 3 or 5 best defensive 3B in baseball. When he returns we should be much better in that area, with the added punch to the lineup as well.

It's a long season filled with streaks and injuries.

And fans recall the start of the season because some players/teams get in a rut. A case in point, the Brewers Orlando Arcia from last year. Twice he was sent down to the minors because he couldn't hit anything and swung at pitches in the dirt and at the end of the season and playoffs, he became one of their hotter hitters.

Do streaks that occur between two separate seasons qualify? I remember when Rollins was chasing that but people were wanting to rebuke its legitimacy if it wasn't during the same season.

Yes statistically and historically they do indeed count. Rather one wants to discredit said achievement or not is entirely up to them, but the record books will honor it, probably with an asterisk or something, but it still counts.
