He's gotten a hit in the last 28 consecutive games he's played in.

    So yeah, it counts.

It's this, correct? If he pinch-hits only to walk, be hit by a pitch, record a sacrifice fly/bunt, reach base on catcher's obstruction, etc. and goes 0-for-0... does the hitting streak survive?

Anyway, on the other side, Chris Davis flew out to LF and is now on an 0-for-41 streak. Of course it's significantly more likely he'll go 0-for-56 than Merrifield gets a 56-game hitting streak, but I'd go as far to say that Davis is more likely to get a 56-game hitless streak! Of course, that's even more impossible because after even just half that time or so games you would see him benched, demoted or released.

Soroka should be back soon enough. He pitched five perfect innings the other day in his rehab start.

Got home and turned on the TV just in time to see bases loaded and I'm still not sure exactly what happened in Houston but 2 runs is 2 runs.

I have to wonder how long Snit and AA are going to ride with this bullpen? It's been a train wreck for years now and they keep acting like these guys are going to get it together. Sure, they can put together a decent stretch every now and then, but none of the pitchers in our bullpen are anyone I'd trust with a game on the line in April, let alone October.

Oh my...Donaldson with the sick pick for an inning ending DP. He hasn't done much with the bat yet, but his glove has been sick.

I cannot believe what I'm seeing out of this Mariners team. I wholeheartedly expected to lose 100 games this season. How we lead baseball in slugging (by a lot) and RPG I do not know, but I'll take it. However, this team has a rich and storied history of building up hype only to rip the hearts out from the collective fan base... So I'll wait and see.

Goes by plate appearances, not at bats I believe. So if someone gets an official PA that game counts towards the streak.
