Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
The irony of my post was intentional.
Yet still, only he could homer in areas of Pacific Bell/SBC/AT&T/Oracle Park that even righties are now doing with regularity. Harper's long ball at Citizens Bank Park was something that only Bonds or Howard had done at the time as well, and his ball just took off like a missile.
I just sit and wonder what Bonds would have done in the juiced ball era. Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
Here's the thing. There were 520 fewer home runs last year than the year before.
And the ball may be juiced, but it's still the same size. These guys are still trying to hit a 3 inch ball with a 2 inch piece of wood, a ball that's usually coming at least 90MPH.
So nothing has been done to make hitting the ball easier. If they have the ability to swing at the right time in the right place and make solid contact, they should absolutely be rewarded with that ball going over the fence.
EDIT: And when I say we're slightly ahead of last year's pace, it's only by a day. There's been 354 home runs, and we're 13 days into the season. Last year we hit 354 on the 14th day.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-08-2019, 06:31 AM.Boston Red Sox

Well, I don't like it for the ball to juiced. I prefer it when hitting 40 homers is a feat.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Jameson Taillon just took a line drive off the dome (at least the radio guys think so) and is somehow okay to stay in the game.
Nightmare inning for the Pirates after a 2 out throwing error opened the floodgates.Comment

Classic Pirates, hope Taillon is ok.Comment

Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
Well, Taillon's out probably more as a precaution than the fact that a bunch of unearned runs scored, but now Lester's out as well after having an RBI double and later scoring in the last inning. Came out for the next inning with no velocity and everything up.
Update: left hamstring tightness for Lester.
Pirates update on Taillon: Evaluated by a doctor and everything was normal. Will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
The liner that hit him came off Anthony Rizzo's bat at 102 MPH (yikes), and Taillon probably got a small piece of it with his glove before it struck him.Last edited by bcruise; 04-08-2019, 04:14 PM.Comment

Another game, another pitching gem, another win! 8-3, don't think we've ever started a season this well. Amazing considering our offense really isn't doing much at all, leaving men in scoring position constantly and relying far too much on people getting walked in, balked in or suicide squeezed in.Comment

That inning is what separates the Verlander/#1 type pitchers from the rest; bases loaded, 1-out. Verlander limits the damage to 1 run...others pitchers will get too cute and end up giving up 3-4."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
