Cubs great that Victor Caratini broke the hamate bone in his hands/wrist last night. If surgery is needed, he would be out 4-6 weeks

Another Friday off day for the Cardinals.
April schedules are weird...I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
So why on Earth is he not up yet? He should have broke camp with the team LAST SEASON. They're just holding him back at this point. He should be able to file a grievance. In the next CBA, they need to make a point about preventing teams from holding players back that are clearly ready, by implementing rules to discourage such tactics...

We all know why even if he was healthy, why he wasn't called up. People might hate it, but Jays are doing exactly what others have done, and it's perfectly allowed under the CBA. Though this could be one of last cases of this happening.
And offensively he's ready, but defensively he probably isn't.Comment

Jays caught a break by him getting injured, so they could use that as a legit reasoning instead of just being like "We don't think he's ready yet". He played in A ball earlier this week on conditioning stint.

Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
Teams, especially in the AL, don't care about defense that much. Just hide him in LF, or 1B, and DH him some.

1B is full with Smoak/Telez. They might be the two best hitters on the team
A 20-year old DH? No thanks.
He needs to play 3B. It's a giant hole. Give him some reps there then call him up.Comment

Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
If anyone from Jays is moving to the OF, it'll be one of their middle infielders.
Hopefully Vlad can get use to 3B. Though like I said before, defensively I see him basically being like an Encarnacion.
Once Jays deal Smoak, that'd help them out alot. Could play Vlad/Tellez at 1B/DH, and whenever someone else needs to DH, Vlad goes to 3B.Comment

Re: 3/28 - 4/14 Game Discussion Thread
At the weight that Vladdy's carrying himself with right now he's basically a Pablo Sandoval clone. I'm sure once he gets up to the big leagues and with a diet and weight training program a lot of that fat will be trimmed off. (I hope) I agree with Maj, he's on the same trajectory as Encarnacion. The only thing that could change that is if Tellez becomes so valuable defensively at 1B than the Jays will have to go with Vladdy as DH.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I don't get why they insist on putting him in the field, but if he's as bad as everyone says he is I definitely support it.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

They'll have played 18 games in 18 days when they get an off day on April 15. Have I got that right? I've never heard of that kind schedule in March/April.
I feel old. I remember the schedules from the 1980s where teams got tons of off-days during April.Comment
