Thankful for the Red Sox ineptitude making my my dilemma of trying to watch them and the NBA and NHL Playoffs all at the same time that much easier to solve.

What a collection of bums this team is, man.

Phillies just sent 14 men to the plate in the first inning and scored 10 runs. Scott Kingery and Maikel Franco both hit 3-run homers in the inning. Mets had 3 errors in the inning. Lol Mets.

Kevin Kiermaier just managed to get caught stealing twice in the same trip on the bases. Caught stealing second (but safe on error), then caught stealing third. Don't see that often

I had to look this up. I've never heard of that scoring rule. Thank you for sharing, that's pretty cool.

As much fun as I was having lambasting the Cubs for their uninspired start, they are playing some dangerously watchable baseball now. Quintana is really rounding into form (ok, against Miami everyone looks good). He's pitching at a Cy Young level these last 2 starts though. Heyward is still stroking the ball. Baez and Contreras are hot. Even Bryant mashed a ball into the gap (it was caught unfortunately) and might be starting to heat up.

This is the worst Red Sox starting ERA through 18 games ever. The previous mark was 6.96, set in 1931. The current rotation has an ERA of 7.18.

If only there was a solid bullpen arm available.

Alfaro just missed a game tying 3 run HR for the Marlins. Hit it 405 feet, needed 408

Catching metrics are kind of weird. I think the book on Willy is plus plus arm. Quick, athletic, "fast for a catcher." Developing, but below average game caller. And the framing is quite wobbly if you really track his work closely. He's a bit noisy with the glove unfortunately and I'm not surprised the metrics don't like him lately.

That being said, Contreras is a very emotional player and how he's doing at the plate likely affects his work behind the dish. If he can have a good offensive year, I'd be interested to see how that affects his framing.
