What?I don' think so, even if the ball wasn't authenticated he can sell it later or whatever. The world existed before balls were authenticated by MLB.

How does something gain that type of value without any kind of authentication? What's stopping some random person who has a baseball from claiming it came from a big moment?

There is video of this catching the ball. This guy has been contacted to exchange the ball for other stuff, so people know who he is. The ball can be authenticated later if need be.

But once he left there is no way to know if he swapped the actual ball with a replacement ball.

Also, read this quote from an ESPN article:
Pujols told reporters he wasn't upset that the fan kept the ball.
The **** is going on? The ball isn't Pujols to keep, he has no claim to it. Now this situation is getting on my nerves and I'm glad that the fan is keeping the ball.

Of course, which is why it would need authentication. I'm sure this isn't the first time a ball would need to be authenticated after it left the ballpark and the chain of command might has to be validated.

I'm surprised that one douche wasn't there to catch it.

There's no way to know once the ball gets into the stands at all if he's swapped it right? Could've switched it out for his "throw it back" ball.

Cubs playing their against-the-Brewers quality of baseball today. That is to say they're playing like dog crap.

Worst part is that they probably don't need to pitch Hader now, and can use him tomorrow.

Rays have a nice young exciting team. A manager that is smart and is very engaged. And they can't draw a consistent crowd. It's just pathetic and it really bothers me.

Its pretty filled tonight. But it's only because the Yankees are there.

Here's a thought for the Cubbies...why not just bludgeon the Milwaukee starter every once in a while so Hader becomes a non-factor? Seems so obvious but the team never really tries this strategy out.
