So under that criteria Boggs is definately a red sox.
Was this what the Winfield reference was about? I agree he should go in with a Sox cap on but the conditions you said leave a little leeway. What if he wants to say the apex of his career was getting hit 3000 therefore that was a peak year? Its lame I know but I wonder if the DRays will be behind this excuse to get him in. So who decides then his peak years and where he made his name?

I believe it is decided by the HOF comittee now. Yes that's what the Winfield reference was about. After that debacle the HOF decided to take the decision away from the players.

I thought that rule came about because of Boggs, actually. Didn't he agree to go into the hall as a D-Ray when he signed there?

No the rule came about after Winfield. I remember the situation vividly. It didn't help that guys like Canseco were saying they'd go into the Hall in a D-Rays cap.

Yeah, I think it's crap for the D-Rays back a few years ago to make HOF-probable-bound players to agree to go into the Hall in their cap.

Glad to see Sandberg finally made it, can't understand why some guys don't vote for guys one year and then the next.

The last fews years of Boggs career made me forget how good he was for a lot of years, but he definitely belongs.

I think the HOF reserves the right to decide what cap to wear.

It would be interesting to see what they would do if guys like Lee Smith, Bruce Sutter and Andre Dawson made it in, since they had significant careers for moreo than one team.
