The Cubs are calling up pitching prospect Adbert Alzolay to pitch out of the bullpen. It'll be interesting to see if the Cubs have finally developed a decent pitcher all the way thru the minor leagues. Kyle Hendricks is the closest they've come in the Theo era, but he was already knocking on the door to AA in Texas' system before being acquired.

Sounds like tonight could be the night we have Raptors at the Jays game.

If so, the fact that Jays aren't advertising this is sad. Easiest marketing opportunity. People will for sure buy tickets.

Jason Heyward...it's worse than watching Derek Lee hit in his last two years wit the cubs.

Like, you just KNOW he's going to hit some weak ground ball while the runners pm 2nd and 3rd barely bother to lead off...

Alzolay carving the Mets up here. This kid looks very sharp in his first MLB outing. Very good command. Kind of a slurvy breaking ball, but he's all over the black with his fastball.

Yeah, lots of late movement, short arm delivery...

Heyward, at least, needs to be platooned with Almora...he can't hit lefties...against righties he at last has an 800+ops

Don't wanna hear about any other team's pitching woes .... just don't want to hear it.

If ever the term "chemistry" or "cohesion" was in doubt as an honest to goodness actual factor that's important for a team to flourish, they only need to look at this Phillies team in its current state. Seems like just a bunch of talented or potentially talented individuals who happen to be wearing the same uniform colors. I sincerely hope they are thinking of a way to get that cohesion, if that's even possible with this bunch. No amount of money can buy that. Maybe they can start by getting rid of that fruity little wave every time they get on base. Act like you've done it before and don't worry about recognition. Worry about the execution..... and I don't mean how to execute the perfect HR celebration on the way back to the dugout.

Congrats to Mike Trout on passing the 70 fWAR threshold with that monster game the other day. That 70 WAR number is an unofficial number, but usually means 'slam dunk' HoF candidate.

Next up for Trout to pass? Sliding Billy Hamilton, Ron Santo, Sam Crawford, Miguel Cabrera, Eddie Murray, Frank Thomas, Rod Carew. He almost certainly passes them all before his 28th birthday.

I think Trout has better than even-money odds at ending the season in 43rd place among position players (Johnny Bench is at 74.8 WAR there now) if he doesn't get hurt this season. Conceivably, he's in the vicinity of Junior Griffey by opening day next season and in Joe DiMaggio/Roberto Clemente territory before he turns 29 years old next summer.

Let's all enjoy this man work.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

We're furthering the home run gap between last year and this year, and on pace to set a new all-time record.

Cody Bellinger's home run off Dereck Rodriguez Wednesday night was the 3000th of 2019.

Last year, #3000 happened on July 6th.

Also, Pete Alonso is the first rookie in National League history to hit 25 bombs in his teams' first 75 games.

Darvish has both of the Cubs hits, and draws the rare "Yuuuuuuuu" from the Wrigley crowd.

Unfortunately he and the Cubs are losing 3-2.

Not anymore - Russell follows up with a 2 run shot.
