Agreed. I said it last week I think, we could have well over 50 wins right now and the division race would be all but over if this team had not played like doo-doo for the first third of the season. The pitching was terrible, the hitting was barely average, the defense was good. We somehow stayed right there with the Phillies. Now the hitting is where it should be, the pitching is still terrible, the defense is still good. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite the Braves. No reason at all they shouldn't win the division again with this offense, but the pitching and Snitker's terrible management of the pitching has done all it can to keep this team down.

Why you'd throw a pitch in the same zip code as the strike zone on 0-2 to Baez totally defies belief. Do pitchers just have such poor control? Or are they just dumb?

I'd be fine just letting it ride for a few more games though.

Hmmm...I seem to remember a certain game at Wrigley last year when the Braves blew a 10-2 lead. Maybe turn about is fair play here?

There was an article on the athletic that touched on this. The hypothesis is that pitchers treat every pitch essentially like an 0-2 pitch with Javy that they lose urgency when it actually is 0-2 and are more likely to make mistakes.

I don't know if I agree with it but there's gotta be something going on. It's crazy how effective he is

You talking about the bad weather game that Jose Quintana started? That was a fun game.

I think us sweeping the Cubs in Atlanta was the payback for that game. Just gotta win 1 of the 4 here to take the season series against them. With this offense, though, anything can happen. Snitker waived the white flag against the nats the other day and the offense still bailed him out.

Anyone surprised Snitker just sat on his hands and let Teheran give up that many runs before he yanked him? Snitker doesn't care if they have 10 runs on the board, he's making sure his pitcher gets through the lineup 3 times. He is an idiot and no one can convince me he is smart with regards to baseball strategy. He has the job because he keeps a cool clubhouse atmosphere, not because he makes good decisions on gameday.

In Snitker’s defense, the bullpen is a bit gassed after Soroka only went two innings yesterday.

They could have been fully rested and he would have not handled it any better. Here is Snitker's pitching management skills in a nutshell.

Greinke homered off Kershaw. 3rd of the year. Kind of ridiculous.
