2.5 out of the wildcard? Quite possibly nowhere.

If the Giants don't sell, they're continuing to push the clock back. I don't see this recent streak sustainable.

Neither do I, and I trust whatever Farhan chooses to do come trade deadline. That said, hopefully he won't lend him out without a big heap in return. We shouldn't ship him out "just because," it's gotta be the right price.

The good news is that since MB would be a rental, if the Giants wanted him back (and I don't necessarily need him back), we could just do that during the offseason after he goes and helps another team.

I am riding this wave as long as it goes, though. We finally have some people coming up from the minors that are giving this team a spark, and once the fans start buying in and come to the park, it's the kind of uppity motivation we need.

Man, the Rockies are doing a great job playing themselves out of the playoff race. Well on their way to their 6th straight loss. You wonder if that will impact the Giants' decision making at the deadline at all

I don't think that it would. They still have the NL East and Central to compete with for the wild card

They still have eleven days to figure it out. The biggest thing holding them up though still, to me, is what we get in return. Even if we lose ten straight games or something, I hope they don't ship him out for scraps.

I just hope they don't become buyers in this situation. Making the playoffs and winning the WS are two completely different things.

You would have to think that they would have an advantage in a Wild Card game against pretty much every team outside of the Nationals in terms of pitching match-up if they hold onto Bumgarner though. So it pretty much comes down to if they think packages they could get for their trade pieces out weigh trip to the NLDS.

I feel like they have to at least get younger. Maybe trade Pillar/Vogt/Sandoval for young guys stuck behind someone on competing teams....

Sheesh Addison Russell is having a rough day at the ballpark, a couple misplays on popups (lost in the sun/wind carried), doubled off at second on a lineout, and a strikeout where the bat flew out of his hands and into the dugout (which I feel happens to him more than any other player)

Cool unique moment at Wrigley:

It's about 100 degrees in Chicago, wind was blowing straight out at ~15mph, then in the top of the 7th the wind switches to blowing straight in at about the same speed almost literally mid play, as a Hunter Renfroe popup almost fooled Javy Baez. The crowd also erupted as the breeze off the lake lowered the temp significantly. (I was watching from the comfortable climate of my own couch, but Len and JD did a great job documenting what I couldn't feel)

I’ve never seen anyone as good as Baez at applying the tag...guy steals several outs/year with his ability.

Kimbrel has been very shaky so far to say the least. Pretty obviously didn't have it there. 2 BB's, bailed out by a bad bunt and an excellent tag by Javy, and got really lucky that Machado's liner found a glove. Hopefully its just rust/not quite being used to pitching 4 out of 5 days.....I'll take another win though.
