Re: 8/5 - 8/18 Game Discussion Thread
Cards will look to hit the brakes on this 5 game losing streak against the struggling Pirates tonight and this weekend.
A sweep would really be nice right about now.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

No doubt about it Big Bo is having a great start to his career. The Jays are going to have a pretty solid young core there it seems.
Gio Urshela is on FIRE! Oh man. Fun to watch!Comment

List of rookies the last 80 years with an XBH in 9 straight games:
Bo Bichette
Ted Williams
Crazy part, Bos record hot streak has him on a 162gm average of 103RBI, .408AVG, 1.290OPS. One of those funny "obviously he's not finishing with those crazy numbers.". Then you realize Ted Williams actually had a season where he has 120RBI, .406AVG, 1.287OPS!
What Bos doing right now, Ted did for an entire season! All while striking out 27 times lol.Last edited by Majingir; 08-09-2019, 02:23 PM.Comment

Re: 8/5 - 8/18 Game Discussion Thread
obviously late but I'm already on board hoping they extend him. I wanted him so bad and the negative on him was his D but I think people oversold that part or it was the Big OF in DET that really hurt him and I know he hasn't had any really tough plays but I really haven't noticed him out there as a pure negative. People sold him as Schwarber level bad and that hasn't been the case. He's obviously not a +.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

I enjoy watching Yu Darvish pitch so much more when he's not trying to be a nibbler. YU chant already raining down in Cincinnati.
EDIT: Also fun when he's not hanging his slider like that last one...Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 08-09-2019, 06:36 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I hate when we play the Marlins. I hate that franchise. I can't even begin to explain why I feel it. Marlins games feel boring as hell. Soulless. Even if they're close or eventful. I just want to sleep.Comment

Would love it if the Yankees could get through the first inning without giving up any runs! it seems like almost every game there putting themselves in a hole. Granted they fight back, its not always going to happen that way!Comment

Re: 8/5 - 8/18 Game Discussion Thread
Another Yankees game with ump drama.
Yankees not happy with the calls again. Gardner mad in dugout, bangs his bat on roof of dugout. Next pitch, ump ejected him in the dugout without even seeing who was yelling at him (it was likely Boone). Boone gets mad, Gardner comes storming out of dugout and I know its Summerslam weekend in Toronto, but we just about saw a clothesline from Gardner.
Umps have been big problem obviously. Jays have been mad too. Outside pitches keep being called strikes.Comment

Almost perfect execution there from Bauer. Pitched Happ backwards and when you have stuff as good as Bauer does that's pretty much unhittableChicago Cubs

Re: 8/5 - 8/18 Game Discussion Thread
Interesting explanation by former MLB catcher Buck Martinez on these diff calls.
Umps nowadays stand in a diff spot behind the plate, and have diff gear. Gives diff vantage point, and also explains why umps are getting hurt more often behind the plate on foul tips.Comment
