I doubt it would've mattered with Russell/Kemp/Happ against Hader. but yeah.

The division all but cooked if Cardinals win the 2nd doubleheader game. The problem with this team is the offense. They just don't make enough contact. I can't explain it.

Teheran with is inexplicable loss of control that he runs into once a game...amazing that he still hasn’t figured it out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher who has had the career development that he has: most pitchers start wild and gain control as they mature. He came up a control pitcher and has gotten more and more wild with each passing year.

I'm looking forward to the Cubs' eventual loss in the WC game and Joe Maddon's dismissal. It's not all his fault by any means, but I think the team simply needs a new voice. They're just mindbogglingly inconsistent when considering the amount of talent they put on the field compared to many of these other teams. Of course, the Cubs still need to earn a wild card berth in the first place. I could see them missing altogether with MIL, ARI, PHI, and NYM all within 4 games. Missing the playoffs would be a 100% lock for a managerial change I'd think.

Jesus, Gabe Kapler is brain dead. Removes Eflin who was pitching a gem at 84 pitches and now the bullpen has allowed the tying and go ahead runs on second and third. He preaches confidence all the time yet he pulls guys when they are pitching well and it ALWAYS blows up in his face. He needs to be fired after this season. Straight up.

He has done that from day one...I’ll never forget him pulling Nola on opening day last year after 67 pitches.

Another insurance run on third base right now and Kapler is having Hector Neris hit. Are you kidding me right now?!

And Neris strikes out. Now he can blow the 3-run lead they just got.

Verlander throwing no hitter vs a core that'll one day win a WS or two......

Dont worry, one day we'll look back on it and be like "Verlander threw a no hitter against a team with Bo and Vlad!?"

How the heck can the Brewers pitching staff hold the Cubs scoreless for two consecutive games and yet for the whole year, have been an utter disappointment.

This is definitely the most Canadian take on Verlander's no hitter.

Cardinals just couldn’t win the finale.

Oh well 3 out of 4 and a 3 game lead after the weekend is good.

Brewer beat writer on Twitter basically summing up our thoughts:

No sport is more unpredictable than baseball. #Brewers had 12th ranked pitching staff in NL. Cubs had been almost invincible at home. So what happens? Two straight shutouts at Wrigley. That's the game.
