well I know Philly has a good team, but I'm not saying this just because I'm a Mets fan, but i'll say it, I think with the two big moves the Mets made , does make them better then Philly Right now, and the Mets are still making moves so maybe you should say 'this is the Phillys year to come in third"......lol . I know the braves always win the damn divison, but I just don't see Smoltz lasting the year as a starter, he should have stayed a closer IMO.

Fair enough, I think Beltran was a good signing (although they paid him too much) and Pedro I am still up in the air about. I just think that Beltran was way overrated, sure he has potential but what does that do for you? Last year he hit .258 for the Stros. He will be hitting in a pitchers park so that will not help his numbers and if his numbers are down, the press will be all over him. I do think they will improve but they were 71-91 last year, I dont see Pedro and Beltran giving them 20 more wins.

That being said, I hope SOMEONE beats out the Braves. They are annoying!!

Last year was THE year for the Phils IMO. Unfortunately, they flopped, and I don't see them doing any better this year.

They did flop last year, no doubt, but I still think they can get 2nd, unless Delgado goes to the Mets or Marlins.

I'm not sure, overcoming the revamped Mets, with a new sense of confidence and better players, will be a tough task for the Phils.

Well i think the NL East will be a great division this year...I think the Braves can still come out and win it b/c the upgraded the pitching enough as long as John Smoltz stays healthy and Tim Hudson pitches good....then Marlins , Mets and Phillies...

Although it is VERY early, I see the division finished somewhat like..

Braves
Mets
Marlins
Phillies
Nationals

The Marlins and Phillies are interchangeable.. I guess it doesn't really matter with how I have them placed, though.

I am still not sold on the Mets, this reminds me of the Mo Vaughn type deals in the past, and we all know how they panned out. I think they overpaid and overrated Beltran and the jury is still out on Pedro.

Now if they get Delgado then that is a different story...
