It's "early" but I expected him to be really good. Of course injury prone.

They have done it but not at this rate. And just no to your second statement.

I'm really behind on this Yanks-Nats game, but I just saw Stanton's home run in the 4th inning, and they're saying it went 417 feet.

Normally I hark on Statcast for overestimating, but how did this ball go a single foot less than Thursday's shot, much less 42 feet??

I'm saying that ball could have gone closer to 480 feet or more. This ball was definitely farther than his first home run by a good couple dozen feet.

See, this is the problem I have with Statcast: Buck is just blindly trusting the measurement it gave.

I have no idea where you're seeing 417 at, but literally EVERYTHING says 483.

That number makes more sense, and is right on the money with my estimation. Joe Buck said 417 feet twice during the broadcast the couple of batters following the home run (they even showed the shot again).

Thanks, that makes me feel better. But again, Buck just follows whatever he'd been informed somehow. I don't know what number he was looking at, or why he wouldn't question it.

EDIT: Here is at least a shot of that measured distance.

And before you say that FOX and Statcast have two different measurements, Buck and crew weren't doing anything to hide such a discrepancy. He combined the home run distances from Thursday and tonight's game at that moment, they talked about how he and Judge are dominating the Statcast era, and I don't know why they would use a different calculator when Statcast is plainly available for them.

They must've fixed something on it since that moment, though (I had to turn it off a few minutes after so I don't know what they show later yet).

I didnt see it, but apparently Fox virtual fans actually left the game early when the home team was losing by a lot late in the game.

That's the funniest part of this all.

I'm trying to think how often this actually does happen to players when the pitcher isn't on deck. For that matter, pitchers won't be batting anymore I guess, so every time it happens hereon out will be one of those cases. Sigh.....
